Native 64-bit support and Mac support do not seem to be planned as this would need a complete rewrite of the plugin.

Any chance they fixed the sloppy pitch/modwheel bend issue ? :D

Would you guys be interested in perhaps me re-releasing my old tDNR soundset I did for firebird+ as a freebie? If there is enough interest, I'll talk to Stephen about doing it.

No, and is also not planned. You could check here:

All other Tone2 plugins seem to be available also for Mac and as 64-bit (at least for PC).

If you have the latest version you already got it. Go to Firebird+ Setup and change skin (backside).

Besides the free and slightly updated Firebird there will be some more amazing news from Tone2 soon.

This started with two new soundsets for ElectraX and Saurus:

Those are mostly done by Troels Nygaard who seems to work for Tone2 now.
The Saurus soundset is just a few days "old".

I don't think Firebird need access to over 4GB RAM to function.

I would say that requesting 64 bit support is a bit like cracking a nut with a sledgehammer ;)

The CPU use of Firebird was already low before and with the Beta of the current update it is even less. RAM use of a single instance is around 35 MB and around 350 MB for 10 instances.

Not sure if serious...

That Tone2 is giving away Firebird+ and sounddesigners are giving away their soundsets is so damn generous. I really make me wish I was on Windows. Or rather - the bird was available on OSX. Oh well - I'm happy for you guys. Now if reFX would do the same with Vanguard I would be orbiting the moon of sheer joy. :hihi:

I am very serious, 32 bit or 64 bit has no impact on sound quality, but how much RAM a plugin can use. As Ingo shows one can load close to 100 instances of Firebird and still not have used 4GB RAM.

For users who are just 64 bit plugin users, I would think that that would mean that they are using heavy machinery like Omnisphere, Trillian or big Kontakt libraries. And if they already have such plugin power, why would they even need to have Firebird?

I think 64bit support is just a major convenience for a lot (most?) people now, no need to mess around with bridges etc.

Sound quality/memory handling irrelevant, people just want to call up the plugin without any fuss.

Exactly.

But the main thing here is that Firebird is offered for free.

To make an issue about it being a little fuzzy to use a bridge in a 64 bit environment, is to me like getting a free dinner served, and then making a fuzz about the chore of having to put the dishwasher on afterwards ;)
