The hoover-like sound that the terra-forming tripod does when it messes with the gravity was pretty cool. Was that ZebraHZ, too?

Possibly, but I have no idea - "music departments" generally aren't responsible for plot-specific sound effects.

Btw, imho Diva beats Zebra hands down for hoover sounds.

Honestly I only heard a handful of synth sounds in Man of Steel

TDZ is full of sounds that don't sound "synthy". When I was watching MoS there were quite a few sounds I suspected to be Zebra. The comb filter alone in Howard's hands can do amazing things...

I feel like if you're Hans Zimmer working on a multimillion dollar film then you would use an orchestra for acoustic sounds rather than trying to PM acoustic instruments with Zebra. Then use the synth for sounds you can't do with acoustic instruments. I guess only Hans really knows.
