Thanks. I will try to explain my problem. Let's say that I use osc 3 square to AM osc 2 triangle. I patch osc 3 square in R.M. A and osc 2 triangle in R.M. B. Then I patch R.M. out into filter or env for example, and then to output. Then I hear the result of amplitude modulation, but when I change volume of osc 2 triangle or osc 3 square, the volume change but not the effect... when I change RM Volume, it changes the output volume too. I'm not sure since I'm no expert with amplitude modulation.Lotuzia wrote:I think the problem might be that some of your Oscillators might not be connected, to the filter or enveloppes by example. In the Xils3 all modules, including oscillators, MUST be connected if they are intended to sound in a patch. In other words, if some oscillators are not connected, they wont be heard, whatever volume thay have.Davias wrote:Isn't it because XILS has drift in its oscillators by default ?
I find the behavior of amplitude modulation weird too... Sound is always the same no matter how I change volumes of used oscillators. If I put an osc at 0 volume then there is no output, I would have expected to hear the other osc unchanged. And AM volume just change the volume of output, not the intensity of modulation. Maybe I'm missing something ?
In such case a good thing might be to look in the pin matrix how the oscillators of the patch you're modifying are connected, then add similar connections for the oscillators that are not used in this patch.
Hope it helps,
LtZ

I've edited this post because it was the one with my entry in it, which is now in the right thread. Sorry guys
I will say again that figuring out this synth was a doozy. I'm glad I got something to come out of it, can't wait to hear what you guys make!

Shame you can't join but thanks for the presets even if they're for FL Studio only.QuadrupleA wrote:Hey all - this may be bad timing with the thread heating up again, but wanted to share some XILS presets I cooked up. I'll be sitting this month's out I think - been encountering enough problems with the synth that have made it challenging to work with, and I imagine that translates to its paid cousin too, so probably not something I'll use for future projects. Still some interesting ideas in the synth - I like the super-modular approach, lots of sonic possibilities. Just needs some polish in the execution I think.

Feel free to use these if they sound interesting - below is a quick little MP3 demo of the sounds in order:
Brassy Pad
Chorused Pad
Dirty bass
FM Guitar Dist (tweak the sine level knob for variation)
Hihat
Kick
Nintendo Square 12.5, gate (NES chiptunes, baby!)
Nintendo Square 25, gate
Nintendo Triangle, gate
Portamento Blip perc
Saw Pluck (I added some convolver reverb in the demo)
Slap Bass, mwhl
Talking Phasy Bass, mwhl
Vibraphone-y
They're in FL studio's .fst channel preset format - unfortunately the Export Bank, Import Bank and other preset features weren't working on XILS BE for me, so wasn't able to package them any other way. If anyone really likes one of these and has another DAW, I can maybe dig a little deeper in the XILS data files - saw some preset1002, preset1003, etc. files in there that might port across. You guys are excellent sound designers so of course feel free to ignore this post

Want to know what RuediRena are cooking?
Have a listen!
Hopefully there will be some days left at the end of the month to cook some more ...

I didn't even think I was gonna enter this round (again), but this morning I had a melody idea and I think I'll go ahead and see what I can get together. I just have to convince myself that the song doesn't have to be epic, because that's where I start stifling myself. (oh this isn't good enough, etc).
Anyway. Good luck all!

Hey guys...
I'm working on a track, since I love to play around with the mod-matrix...
THIS IS SO HEAVY STUFF!
Decided to do something extremely spacey, no percs etc...
Heaving a lot of fun!
-> Just wanted to tell
Cheers, Bjulin

Started a project with Xils 3 and got stucked with a drifting kick.
Then, I was extremely disappointed with the Feldspar results for my submission. Kinda lost interest in OSC.
Hoping for a better mood.

Not only have I got a drifting kick.... I also have a drifting bass , depending on what time of the day I render the track I either have, an ENORMOUS BASS that completely blows out the rest of the track, or the tiniest little pathetic bass you've (n)ever heard. And also most of the time one of the Xils 3 synths asks me for the serial number and does not make a sound.e@rs wrote:Started a project with Xils 3 and got stuck with a drifting kick.
Does this make me stop making music (that is what I call the stuff I make...music) hell no!**
I just don't change anything and render the track 20 times, and hope that one of the renders sounds a little bit like the track I just made in my DAW.
Hey, just do it because you want to, not because you have to.e@rs wrote: Then, I was extremely disappointed with the Feldspar results for my submission. Kinda lost interest in OSC.

**And I'm only/mostly in it for the fun and the comments, and without the OSC I probably will never finish a track at all.
And for what it's worth, I liked your Feldspar track and title very much.
