Seems to be divide-down technology, which should influence the phase alignment of voice waveforms. Would be an interesting option for the MS-20 oscillators in Diva, for sure, but might send CPU use flying into the clouds :)

It's not a polyphonic MS 20 though i believe it shares some circuitry with it.
It's been a really long time since i played one but back then i thought it was the best thing ever.

They're supposed to be phantastic sounding.

I'm torn between the idea "enough vintage gear already" and "me wanty". Recently, former has one, so I missed out on one of these

I owned a PS3100 once upon a time and I really liked the sound. I also had a MS20 and a MS50 to complement it. As far as I can remember the PS3100 was able to make quite lovely soft sounds as opposed to the grittier MS20 & MS50. Anyway, that was how I used it. It certainly was a great combination of synthesizers at the time.

However, I come from way back when, when everybody talked about the Moog Machine, and all synths were compared to Moog. Korg didn't sound like Moog, so in some (quite a few) quarters Korg wasn't really house broken. How times have changed.

As for me, I'm really happy I don't have to battle with the unreliable and inconsistent analogue stuff anymore. And I don't have to sit and make drawings of the knob positions (=presets) and where all the patch cables went. I was incredibly happy when I finally could do everything in the box. Today, I can get excellent sound and do way more than I could ever dream of in the Seventies for a tiny fraction of the price.

For analogue enthusiasts, I suppose the PS3100 might be interesting. I might be interested in an emulation of it, but I will never get any analogue gear again.

Great post Tpot. I came up in the 70's and went through lots of analog gear, and remember the days of drawing diagrams, saving patches and sequences off to cassette tapes, etc... I don't know if the kids today appreciate how good they have it! During the 80's, just to keep the studio current you had to spend a few thousand dollars a year on new synths -- today for $ 150 there are fantastic synths like that sound great. That's progress.

Here are some of the better video clips I heard of the Korg:

I was using the Ps3100 a lot, a friend of mine used t have one in is studio. I had a PS3200 for years too, a soft sounding and a bit "organesque" sounding, probably because the divide down oscs.
I even had it MIDified with the rare kenton interface. Some years later I traded it for an Obie 4-voices and never looked back. IMHO, the cost is not reflected in the kind of sounds you can get. I'll never spend the kind of money people ask for a Korg PS series. Better get one of the clone PS resonators and you'll have half of the sound there...
