If they do, then they seem to absorb it into the final cost better.fluffy_little_something wrote:I am not so sure it only applies to physical products. Most European companies seem to charge VAT, for instance U-he. I can't imagine they are all doing it illegally to rip people off.
But as I pointed out, if you look at the prices before sales, they actually charge more to their Euro customers for the same product. So I officially retract my statement they don't like American currency as much.
Still, their idea of a sale is nothing more than a cents off coupon in the States. And if they gave us the same discount as they do their own continent, then it would be a deal I would jump on.

This is wrong. I have paid VAT for many download products and also the price of the U-He products (e.g. 179$ for Diva) are without VAT but they add it later at checkout.BBFG# wrote:VAT is for physical products in shipping. Doesn't apply to downloads. The other Euro companies I've dealt with all have a unilateral pricing schedule and the only change in pricing is in the conversion from Euros to Dollars.
You should not forget that Tone2 is a german company (like U-He and NI) and they have to pay VAT to the fiscal authorities.

Ya, Steinberg also charges 19% VAT on their download products. It is included in the price from the beginning though. I guess that also explains the higher overall prices in €.

Again, I will concede this point if it helps to get a focus on the totality being skewed to reflect a different math for different continents. As I said, the other companies I've dealt with have one pricing whether it be in euros or dollars, I have often paid in euros and see an accurate conversion on my billing. But it is in the math of sales that always prove to be the one thing you can never take for granted.Ingonator wrote:This is wrong. So if you give a set of customers a discount of $51.50 off a product, then I expect the same consideration. That's all.

That's cool in a way, but not fair to others. Some have it right now (actually I do) and could start a song...getting extra time to work on it. But others would have to wait would get it free, then just have the normal 30 days for the OSC to finish a song.Mushy Mushy wrote:So what you're saying is start preparing the OSC track nowNumanoid wrote:August is on Thursday, so will the Firbird then run from it's cage and fly free

Yes very wrong. I believe there are only 2 euro countries that don't apply vat to digital downloads. I did some investigating a while back. It is possible to avoid the tax in quite a few cases. I won't reveal how but it really doesn't need much thinking about.Ingonator wrote:This is wrong.
