I find myself wishing for .sfz import into the WaveScan Osc..........would make for some nice Wavestation type sounds.....

So any comment on this from KV331 ? Would take Synthmaster into a whole new territory. (Would also encourage the sales of .sfz food for the Wave Scan Osc's........

+1
I would also like to see a granular playmode for samples (wav + sfz) in a future update. Perhaps a feature for Synthmaster 3?
(and an octave switch in the osc section)

Hey, that's in our plans for v3.0:
Extract single cycles from a sample, even from multisamples!

Will the upgrade to v3 be free for SynthMaster license owners, or will there be an upgrade price (and how much)?kv331 wrote:Hey, that's in our plans for v3.0:

And when will v3 be released approximately?

I think your post is in response to the Granular request but hopefully you'll consider allowing full .sfz import to the Wavescan Osc as well. The sounds you could then make with 4 Wavescan Osc's would be amazing........kv331 wrote:Hey, that's in our plans for v3.0:

Yes, it is in my TODO list to add "sample 2 single cycles" feature. It is very important

I'm not sure if I understand the "sample to single wave" part. What I'm talking about is allowing a separate full .sfz file...not just a single sample... to be imported to each slot in the Wavescan Osc:

It would also be nice to have some sort of "fade" or "morph" parameter to allow smooth transitions between each slot's .sfz file......or if you wanted more rhythmic sounds you could have abrupt changes between each file although you can of course accomplish this now by assigning an LFO to the Wave Index and setting it to Step.......

Art renaissance project is just busy creating a soundbank for this great synth. We love this one really. Endless potential and easy to use.
We use very much the ability to import sf2 sounds and combine them with synth sounds.
There are some greate sounds on its way to your fingers:)and we already are halfe the way done to have 100 new sounds:)

Ah no, that wasnt what I meant. So you wanna morph between samples. Well, let me also think about that.Teksonik wrote:I'm not sure if I understand the "sample to single wave" part. That's nice but what does it have to do with the subject ?classic wrote:Art renaissance project is just busy creating a soundbank for this great synth. We love this one really. Endless potential and easy to use.

Ok fair enough......at least I've got you thinking......kv331 wrote:Ah no, that wasnt what I meant. So you wanna morph between samples. Imagine 1 WaveScan Osc producing a sound that starts as a Choir Ahh....then morphs to an Ooh then slowly to a bell sound then to a Shakuhachi. Now imagine what the other 3 Osc's could be doing.....Arps, Seqs, more Wavesequencing.......

I know the term wavescanning only with single cycle waves. So that wouldn't be what you have in mind when working with long (multi)samples.Teksonik wrote:Ok fair enough......at least I've got you thinking......kv331 wrote:Ah no, that wasnt what I meant. I could think of two possible ways to achieve those wavestation like sounds:
1) A new "wavesequencing oscillator" similar to the existing wavescanning osc wich allows to load sfz samples into each of the 16 slots with adjustable crossfade times, volume, pitch and duration (free or clock synced) for each slot. That's how the original Wavestation works.
Pro: sounds smoother than granular, rhythmic sequences (clock sync) possible
Con: complex and time consuming editing, multisamples often sound better than single samples
2) A new granular playmode for sfz samples. Load a long sample, choose a long grain length (100 - 250ms), put the playback speed to 0%. Then choose a midi controller (e.g. modwheel) or a modulator (env, lfo, keytrack,...) to modulate the grain position.
Pro: less editing, often a single sample is enough for whole keyrange
Con: not always smooth sound, transients are not preserved for percussive material
SM is very versatile and a GREAT synth so far. But some granular playmode for samples would make it even better.
Here are some examples to show the possibilities of granular synthesis.
Original wavesequence from my 20 year old Wavestation (i just removed the fx). Sounds very smooth.

The same sample as above played back in granular mode in another synth (synth name starts with a A from a company with a C
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/461 ... %20lin.mp3
The same sample and settings as above but sample position is controlled by modwheel in realtime.

Another example with the same sample. This time i played a melody and modulated the sample position by footcontroller in realtime. Also added some fx. This would be the perfect layer for a mallet/percussive sound.

Many thanks for the edited blue skin, Teksonik. Looks great.
Btw, afaik SM only supports sfz. I don't have a SF2 file for testing but i didn't find a word on SF2 support in the manual. I like the easy editing of sfz files in a text editor.
Cheers,
Gerald
