I enjoy exploring different genres of music and I recently stumbled upon music that sounds like it came from 70' 80's even though it was made recently. Genres like dream pop and certain indie bands come to mind when I think of this.
Patterns - Burning Man
High Highs - In A Dream
The Naked And Famous - Young Blood
These are examples of songs that give me a 70's and 80's vibe and i'm looking for more of it. The fat snares, the heavy reverb on the vocals and the delicate synths are so nostalgic even though I was born in the 90's and not the 70's.
Do any of you know of modern bands that have that 70's - 80's vibe?

Definitely the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon soundtrack! It's a video game parody of those typical 80s action movies. The soundtrack shamelessly steals from Terminator, Blade Runner etc. and is awesome
Sadly the game is really bad (apart from the excellent humour).
Cheers

M83 and Capital Cities are the first ones I think of. And (I hope I'm not opening a can of worms by mentioning this) Daft Punk's Random Access Memories.
"musician."

Nice music vids, hadn't heard them before. My fav band at the moment, Cults, also have a vintage sound. And The Knife's Heartbeats sounds very 80's.
Always look on the bright side of life

Half of the videos linked above are "Not available", but...
I really like that song, excellent 80ies vibe. And since this is a linked playlist, take a look at the MagFest 11 concert (man... is it 11 years already since that spawned from the OCR/VGMix communities? Wow - time sure flies by!)

not available? strange... Great track, very nostalgic. It reminds my of old Sylvester and Steven Segal movies.Compyfox wrote:Half of the videos linked above are "Not available", but...

I think there's a lot of 80's retro stuff going on at the moment and I love it!
Just a few days ago I saw 'Drive' which also has that real Thomas Mann vibe to it and includes these songs:

The movement has existed for years, but it was really Drive which propelled it into the mainstream, which is pretty cool.
