I enjoy exploring different genres of music and I recently stumbled upon music that sounds like it came from 70' 80's even though it was made recently. Genres like dream pop and certain indie bands come to mind when I think of this.

Patterns - Burning Man

High Highs - In A Dream

The Naked And Famous - Young Blood

These are examples of songs that give me a 70's and 80's vibe and i'm looking for more of it. The fat snares, the heavy reverb on the vocals and the delicate synths are so nostalgic even though I was born in the 90's and not the 70's.

Do any of you know of modern bands that have that 70's - 80's vibe?

Definitely the Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon soundtrack! It's a video game parody of those typical 80s action movies. The soundtrack shamelessly steals from Terminator, Blade Runner etc. and is awesome :D
Sadly the game is really bad (apart from the excellent humour).

M83 and Capital Cities are the first ones I think of. And (I hope I'm not opening a can of worms by mentioning this) Daft Punk's Random Access Memories.

70s - chris joss. goes for that old quincy jones vibe.

Nice music vids, hadn't heard them before. My fav band at the moment, Cults, also have a vintage sound. And The Knife's Heartbeats sounds very 80's.
Always look on the bright side of life

Half of the videos linked above are "Not available", but...

I really like that song, excellent 80ies vibe. And since this is a linked playlist, take a look at the MagFest 11 concert (man... is it 11 years already since that spawned from the OCR/VGMix communities? Wow - time sure flies by!)

not available? strange... Great track, very nostalgic. It reminds my of old Sylvester and Steven Segal movies.

I think there's a lot of 80's retro stuff going on at the moment and I love it!

Just a few days ago I saw 'Drive' which also has that real Thomas Mann vibe to it and includes these songs:

Win8.1 64x/Live 9/Steinberg UR44/Roland HP 235/Edirol PCR-800/Eastman AC222/Washburn D12/Ch. Les Paul/Behringer BCF2000 & BCR2000/Korg Nanopad 2/Focusrite VRM Box/AT 2020/2xB5/E825s/Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250/Tannoy 502

The movement has existed for years, but it was really Drive which propelled it into the mainstream, which is pretty cool.

In the flow of a-ha or not. Typical eighties synths and 60s guidats.
