Is there a cable for ipad to play midi keyboard while charging the ipad?

Hey Guys, Here's the youtube video of the actual keyboard I have and it being used just like I'm using it.Just can't charge it while I'm using it.

Pretty sure the adapter I suggested should work, it's basically just a CCC with extra USB ports and power. Give it a try first, the only reason it might not work would be if the iPad connector part only supports picture formats but I thnk that's unlikely as it should say so.

Looks like it would work if I use a usb to midi adapte cable to go from the usb keyboad to the midi ins of the studio connect. I appreciate all your input.

Why would you need to use the Studio connect at all? If your keyboard already supports coremidi you can just use it as you are already but the adapter will just enable you to charge the iPad at the same time.

What you just said is very interesting. Forget about the studio connect for a minute as it.I'm not hellbent on that anyway.The ipad only has one way for an external keyboard to get in and that is the same input used to charge it.
Maybe I'm not understanding you but the coremidi has nothing to do with the physical inputs needed to do both connect the keyboard and charge the ipad at the same time. If I'm not getting you can you clarify? The keyboard works fine with ipad no problem but it takes up the very input of the ipad needed for charging is what I'm saying.I need somethingfromthe wall goinginto the ipad to charge it and I need a usb cable going into the ipad for the keyboard.

Because all you need is a charger input on the connecter - the 3-Port USB Hub/Camera Connection Kit/Sync/Charger for iPad appears to have that and also has 3 USB ins so even if you used one for the midi keyboard you still have another that could connect to a charger as well so either way you should be covered as long as it allows midi data to be passed through it as the camera connection kit does (and if it is replicating its functionality it should but you will be able to test that soon anyway).

btw even if you wanted a dedicated midi interface I would personally wait for the iconnectmidi 2 to come out - same price but much more powerful and made by a company with audio production in mind rather than Griffin who make generic devices.

Makes perfect sense to me. You're right,I'll see soon enough and that's why I ordered it. Got high hopes for that thing. This why I never got into Apple much.They use this propriety stuff nothing else can talk to that keeps you tied to what they sell imo.

I also bought an actual $80 dock that has 3 usb inputs, hdmi, component, vga and more - and the reason I bought it was because it claimed it could charge at the same time you could use it. Very little on it actually works at all.

Well, in both cases, they lied outright. The instructions that shipped with both of them in chinenglish literally said you could do one or the other but not both.

There is not one of those chinese made pieces of dreck that can actually utilize usb AND charge at the same time. They WILL NOT WORK. And, they will break two weeks later.

Just trust me. I bought them. I wasted my money. They absolutely DO NOT WORK!

Thanks for the heads up. I read some not so flattering reviews on the 3in 1 thing I ordered but it was only $12 so worth a try.You do get what you pay for ...sometimes.
