Just wondering, and I hope so. Some of my favorites are Synthedit based.

Well I found this on the Synth-answers.com site:
SE is still x86 (32 bit) application and our plug-ins are 32-bit too. Jef said that x64 version is in development now.

So I guess that is some official confirmation. I hope it is not too hard for devs to create a 64 bit version of existing apps once a 64 bit Synthedit is available.

Probably will come, but old developers won't necessarily want to redo their old modules to be compatible with the new version.

Yeah, that's what I assume too, but I have a few synths from active developers that I am guessing will do it ASA they can.

That's the real issue - most people who develop in SE don't stick around much, so with almost anything out today your best plan is to just live with it at 32.

I wouldn't hold out too long for 64bit SE either, Jeff stated somewhere that he would start work on it after SE v1.2 was out....which still isn't out.

EDIT - Here it is -> http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... highlight=

Synthedit 1.2 is already potentially compatible with x64 and OSX - GUI apart.
The 'Save as x64' feature is missing (Jeff stated about 3-4 months of work to add it), and he said he's looking for a OSX GUI library to start OSX conversion.

Latest SDK is 64bit-compatible too.

Cool! Thanks for the detailed update! I am a while off buying a 64 bit machine myself, but its nice to know it is coming, that's the important part to me ;)

Probably not, even SE 1.1 hasn't worked fully yet for me. I don't like how you have to uninstall before each new beta install, that caused my computer problems before.

One install didn't have working patch memory modules.

One install couldn't take a pitch envelope(drum synth), then I built the same thing in Se 1.0, loaded it in 1.1, and somehow it worked. Doesn't make sense.

Just wondering if there's an update on when this might be available. There are quite a few Synthedit plugs that I'd like to see in 64 bit, but without the 64 bit release of Sythedit work can't even start I guess.

there's been a 64-bit version of the alpha for a wee while now...

Good to know it's got that far.

I assume that being in alpha there's at least a number of months before any sign of a production version.

Then there's the wait for developers to update...

Oh well, bit bridge it is for a while then.

There is a alpha about. However, the only 3rd party modules that will work properly with it are ones that have been compiled to 64bit.

So all the old Chris Kerry, EVM and Dave Haupt modules that are commonly used won't work. Not sure what the likelihood of those ever being updated to 64bit is...not very, would be my guess!
Q. Why is a mouse when it spins?
A. The higher the fewer.

Most of my synths use Chris Kerry and David Haupt modules. Chris Kerry flat out stated he will NOT recompile his modules to 64 bit. I am now looking at Kontakt and UVI as replacements for my existing and new products.

now is a great time for you to pick up the SE SDK and make some modules
it's not fun, but you won't regret it
It doesn't matter how it sounds..
..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD!
