I can't say I've ever experienced the kind of nightmare many peeps seem to recall with it but I only started using it around 2004-5 I think and updated it immediately with all the patches/hotfixes and then some available for it, using it in the year 2000 perhaps wouldn't have been that jolly.Zombie Queen wrote:Kudos to you! I still stick with XP on my music and work computer, but I would never want to get back to ME, worst windows ever IMO (not counting pre 3.1 and XP64 which I never had a contact with), I remember it, as a kind of broken 98, blue screening on daily basis.eidenk wrote:No one supports ME or 98 those days

I just checked the dll with dependency walker to see if it would give me a clue as to why it doesn't run and I found out with it that this function was required but not present in my OS, that's all.flakes2 wrote:because you seem to be no software developer, but seem to know about lowlevel os calls and reverse engineering? i ve entered the call that you mentioned to google and ended up in hacker forums.

Aargh! Flashbacks to that one ME host in the office back in 2000. What a nightmare!Zombie Queen wrote:Kudos to you! Go back to Win 7. It's a fine OS. That's coming from an IT Pro who uses Mac OS X by choice, and supports Windows and Linux. XP is too old to be put in service now, and will be dangerous to use connected past its EOL next April, when security patches end.rifftrax wrote:I'm on Windows 8 and honestly it's been such a bastard to try to use for music production that I'm half tempted to deal with the 3gb cap of XP and just go back.

If it helps any, we are skipping Win 8 at work, just like we skipped Vista. I'm a bit concerned, as I don't see the improvement yet in 8.1 that we saw from Vista to 7.
Seasoned IT vet, Mac user, and lover of music. Always learning.
