Also, all the stuff about Gladiator's HCM also applies to Firebird even though they will sound different. So here's a video about Gladiator:

I can wait a decade for this to go freeware
I couldnt pay full price for their stuff.
Dont know why, my Paypal has sucked the dick of every other Dev out there

Their prices are just over the tipping point for me and Ive wanted Gladiator, since, like, 4eva

Yeah, its a bit more than like Audjoo Helix (which just got updated) but its a little cheaper than U-he Zebra, but isn't as flexible. It's actually similar in some ways to Zebra with the wavetable scanning and stuff, but I think Gladiator's "HCM" wavetables are easier to mangle (but maybe not as powerful overall). I own all three now (only bought Zebra a couple weeks ago), and they're all really different. But, there's nothing like Firebird for that weird sound it has - not even Gladiator.

I've wanted ElectraX for forever, but can't bring myself to spend the money. Their "expansions" make them too expensive for me, and I feel like without the expansions I'm not getting the full product. I find the expansions expensive, confusing, and off-putting.

E.g. Saurus: the arp costs extra? Bizarre.

On topic, I wish I could use Firebird. I must jump though hoops (fire up Fusion and use Reaper in Windows) to use pc VSTs, which is usually enough to keep me from even trying them.

That's not a diss on Reaper—it's a fine daw, I own it, and I use it occasionally in Mac OS. I'm just not comfortable with it like I am with Logic. Nor am I comfortable making music in Windows.

Special ordered the Beat magazine with this on it a few months ago.. glad to see this updated without requiring the keyfile now. One less thing to keep track of when moving/rebuilding systems in the future. :c )

Which banks do you mean exactly? Those in the KVR database?

I didn't see the original post where someone suggested the arp in Saurus cost extra, but I wanted to dispel that. The arp came with the version I just received, and the Website lists a "Powerful Arpeggiator" as one of the features of the synth.

There are some very nice expansion packs for Saurus that take advantage of the arp, and those cost extra, but the arp is built-in, just like the gate. And the arp in Saurus isn't your typical arp! I'm just starting to plumb its depths, but it can do quite a bit.

And don't get me started on the extremely extensive modulation options on this synth!

Anyone noticed a difference in sound to the old version? As Tone2 announced:

Seems to me as if they disarmed the very strong "attack" of the old version, sounds a but more polished now, if i'm not imagining things. Still very powerful bottom end this thing... so far i really like it. Nice filters as well.

Well to my ears the updated version sounds a notch more open and smoother (as opposed to its older darker grumpy tone)...unless I'm imagining/hearing things as well
