The arp came with the version I just received, and the Website lists a "Powerful Arpeggiator" as one of the features of the synth.wesleyt wrote:I've wanted ElectraX for forever, but can't bring myself to spend the money. Their "expansions" make them too expensive for me, and I feel like without the expansions I'm not getting the full product. I find the expansions expensive, confusing, and off-putting.
E.g. Saurus: the arp costs extra? Bizarre.
There are some very nice expansion packs for Saurus that take advantage of the arp, and those cost extra, but the arp is built-in, just like the gate. And the arp in Saurus isn't your typical arp! I'm just starting to plumb its depths, but it can do quite a bit.
And don't get me started on the extremely extensive modulation options on this synth!

Thanks. It wasn't a post, but their shop web page:
http://tone2.com/html/shop.html
It says, under Saurus:
Expansion Arpeggiator €39 $49 Buy it now!
I just found that it's an expansion of presets _for_ the arp:
http://tone2.com/html/overview_sa.html
I apologize for the confusion.

Wes

this is great - well done Tone2 - downloading now.
My previous complaint against Tone2 was that they were far too 'commercial' (expensive synths, expensive expansions, lack of free content etc) - Saurus has just sat on my hard drive not getting used for this reason.
So to see this, big thumbs up. I remember trying Firebird years ago and thinking it was a really nice sounding synth so looking forward to grabbing this now.
More devs should do this as a marketing tool - I bet quite a few people will trying Firebird and become interested in other Tone2 synths. I imagine most devs have old synths that nobody is buying nowadays that they could use as a marketing tool...

I'd like to thank Tone2 for the generosity.
Big thanks for the "Please feel free to share Firebird 2 with all your friends!" part. Too often some free gift gets lost, and people can help replace it, but we must wait for the Ok from the dev's.
Side note, the manuals (Eng/Fre/Ita/Spa) are included with the installer, no need to download them from the site.
And I agree Kindred, its a great marketing tool, and Tone2 agrees as well, theres a demo of Saurus inside.
Thanks again Tone2, cheers.

Is there an updated manual anywhere? The one that comes with it seems like it was probably from the pre-+ days. It doesnt have info on the majority of the arp modes or filters, etc

Yeah, the lowend of this synth is pretty damn awesome. And all the filters are great. Love the "broken" ones like Moog Noise, Analog, Syncie & LP Octave.chk071 wrote:...Still very powerful bottom end this thing... so far i really like it. Nice filters as well.

I tried resaving the free banks from other hosts that the fxb's work in but still no go in Sonar X2 (that seem to have the same problem as X1). I resigned to turning the banks I wanted to fxp's with Tobybears minihost, that works. Not ideal but better than not being able to use them at all.yessongs wrote:
No luck not a single bank I have found will load.
I use 64 bit windows 8 and 64 bit sonar x1 as my daw

Unfortunately not. The best thing you can do right now (well, I did it that way) is:ezelkow1 wrote:Is there an updated manual anywhere? The one that comes with it seems like it was probably from the pre-+ days. It doesnt have info on the majority of the arp modes or filters, etc
- check the update page (there you will find what has been added). Unfortunately their changelogs for all their synths so you have to search manually.
- download the other manuals from TONE2 stuff (not only synths, filter eg) and try to find additional information about filters, hcm synthesis etc.
Btw arp modes are not that complicated. Just dial them in and listen to what they do. Chords is a one note chord function. Gate is some kind of "play all pressed keys in arp mode" thingy. IIRC the rest are mono arp patterns with some variations.
The most annoying thing for me is that eg for the delay fx there is no pop up for the timings.

Sebastian

One of the downers for me with the v2 version is that the GUI is just as tiny as it was, there hasn't been added any possibility for resizing?
What are you favorite skins? This is kinda nice:
