Let me say this in a constructive way ... There are LOOOOADS of good compressors, EQs and Effects ...Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:First, thanks for the constructive FRs (yes, that one about mix knobs has been relayed, and sidechain functionality too but it is always good to hear how many people want a feature).
Beyond that, what else do people NEED? Is there room for some amazing EQs? I think there have been a few new ones out there recently that show there is space there... New creative FX? Or even new reverb (though let's not repeat the "mastering reverb" debate, or actually that's a cool debate really so carry on if you must, as T-RackS has a strong mixing context too of course)? Anything else?
What seems to be the most requested gear that isn't currently emulated, or infrequently modeled? I have an idea on that one but won't lead the conversation.
Only recently have we started to see a "DAWcentric" approach. I get that famous gear knock-offs pay the rent. But, my opinion is that the real difference makers are going to be those that take advantage of the DAW.
We don't another EQ clone ... we need the newer EQs to push the envelope of audio tracking capabilities and features that allow easier or interesting frequency controls. We need tools that might allow cross talk between FX. We need tools that have the basics of a DAW workflow baked in instead of tacked on.
All that is my opinion. But, all I see now is a clone war. That isn't to say that these new models don't sound good or work well, they just aren't unique in sounding good or working well. Once I found a couple that work, there isn't a lot to drive me to a new product. This new comp may be great ... but there's nothing on it I don't have already.
