I'm sure we could agree on many things, but you'd have to stop being such an idiot firstBBFG# wrote:I knew we could agree on something. The Al1en wrote:x3BBFG# wrote:Tone2! Have a real sale and watch the number of your supporters increase exponentially!

Why they should reprogamm there installer ?chk071 wrote:I could maybe understand when they do it on their payware synth installers, but on their freeware, no no... that's just bad style.
Thats not what iam ask for.
Does it only remove black listed licence keys ?
And what sense should that make ?

Ad Hominems say more about yourself than who you throw them at.The Al1en wrote:

But the irony does make me chuckle.

I'm pretty sure they could remove it with minimal effort.tomtoo wrote:Why they should reprogamm there installer ?chk071 wrote:I could maybe understand when they do it on their payware synth installers, but on their freeware, no no... that's just bad style.

I don't have time to read and/or clean all this up right now, but enough of the personal attacks.

It doesn't really matter now. There was a misunderstanding; it's been cleared up.Ingonator wrote:You are mentioning "Trojan horse" and "installing intrusive software" in the same sentence. How do you think this would be intrepreted?

I pray for a sale too !
Something like the more you buy the better bargain... ^^
I would then grab gladiator, nemesis, rayblaster and electraX (in this order :p )

Note to Tone2 programmer:tomtoo wrote:Why they should reprogamm there installer ?
Reprogramming the installer:
-Remove Saurus demo option
-Remove scanning utility
-Add 64 bit support
-Add bigger GUI

The first two could be possible but the last two i don't think will happen.Numanoid wrote:Note to Tone2 programmer:tomtoo wrote:Why they should reprogamm there installer ?

As mentioned several times, also on the Tone2 forum, doing Firebird 64-bit needs a rewrite of the plugin.
Anyway what5's the problem about the Saurus demo option if you could select to install Firebird only (from the drop-down menu). I guess this is the "price" for becoming freeware.

I have no problem with any of these. I wouldn't even mind if the scanner calls home and report the findings, as long as I was aware of what it does. But, file removing utility is a no-no, in my book.Numanoid wrote:-Remove Saurus demo option

It's not a big deal, but feels a bit like intrusive marketing.Ingonator wrote:Anyway what5's the problem about the Saurus demo option if you could select to install Firebird only (from the drop-down menu). I guess this is the "price" for becoming freeware.
What if Tone2 rather stated in the installer: "we thought about including Saurus demo, but then thought most people couldn't handle all the awesome options, so we left it out".
Cue punters downloading Saurus demo en masse, to show that they indeed are up for it.
Just a stupid example, but the bottom line is that I feel better with marketing where the consumer go to the producer to get stuff, rather than the producer try to slip things under my radar.

Exactly how he intended it - as any decently educated person would recognize.Ingonator wrote:Here is a quote of your post:hakey wrote: No Ingo, you misunderstood me. I very carefully used the phrase 'Trojan horse', intending the classical sense - ie, a gift that conceals, particularly one deceptively used to gain entry - and, imo, the Firebird installer is just that.
If I'd intended trojan in the narrower, self-replicating malware sense, I'd have written 'it installs a trojan' or similar.
You are mentioning "Trojan horse" and "installing intrusive software" in the same sentence. How do you think this would be intrepreted?hakey wrote: The discussion here about Tone2 using this freebie as a Trojan horse to install intrusive software without users granting their full informed consent is very much on topic, imo.
