I'm serious! No one else has this problem?
Maybe you send some kind of CC messages that resets your synth to the default preset?

This thread has talked so much garbage about this synth I didn't even think of just midi cc data. ... thanks :hihi: Is there a tool that strips everything but the notes and volume?

Strange, did not notice such a problem here. Which host/DAW are you using?
Maybe your host is not fully compatible so this could be important (and mentioning the host usually should be always done when asking for support).

Like others mentioned maybe you are sending some CC messages.

I had problems like that in the past when i loaded a MIDI file from the web as a clip in Ableton Live. Those MIDI files usually include a program change which i have to remove from the clip details (by changing e.g. program "083" to "---").
Also in each track at the arrangement view of Live you could set a program change (Bank, Sub, Program).
Here is a screenshot of the settings for the track (e.g. "Pgm change"):

Do you need a tool for that? What you need is knowledge and skills... just a little of each, actually.

Have not seen that other people already posted the same idea like mine. Damn, I should read threads more than once right after getting out of my bed. :)

Had some similar issue once in Reaper though I am not sure which synth I used. In the bootom of the midi editor is the parameter section and I had to disable all of the stuff manually.

Btw found a thread about it here on KVR after looking for a picture of it: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5142632

I think it's the Program parameter.

Wish all of you a nice weekend.

The most easy way to test if there is a general problem with Firebird is to create a fresh project with a single instance of Firebird and check if the selected preset is kept after re-loading.

This way it is possible to see if there is a general problem with Firebird or not. If everything is OK after re-loading it should be indeed a problem with a CC message like shown in the screenshot of Halma (post above mine).

I have a pretty basic question about this synth (didn't check if there's a manual included, which surely will cover this): Can you import your own .wav files to use as oscillators?

No.

The included waveforms are also no simple waveforms. I think the HCM waveforms are closer to a wavetable or morphbable waveforms (like PWM).

Hi,

even if it would be possible to convert waveforms to the HCM format the plugin does not offer an option to load them.
There is also no dedicated waveforms folder like with e.g. Rayblaster or ElectraX.
The waveforms, factory banks (1 empty + 4 full ones) and skins are included with the DLL file.

Yep. I just thought it might be possible, when i heard the speech and drum loop sounds. No problem, enough stuff already in there to keep me busy. :)

Just a quick tip that makes Firebird a lot more easier to understand esp the modify, loop and speed settings:

Use only osc 1 and disable the filter. Now choose a VOX (like the "rock n roll" one") and play around with the loopmodes and speed settings without the modify one. This should demistify most of it.

With 0Hz and eiter +... or -... you will get the first or last sound of a file as a static wave. With ? .... a random one and 0Hz everytime you press a key.

After that enable the mod settings and play around with all of them. Some of them use speed settings too (like the phasing ones).

If you just load the basic STA waveforms no loop/speed option will be available until you enable some of the modify parameters.

Lots of stuff to play around with. Hope this helps a little bit.

And the only free running lfo waveform is the FREE TRI. This one does not retrigger so if you need some modulation from the LFO in ARP mode choose this one. If you need a lfo that resets everytime a key or the ARP triggers use the other ones.

1st...

Thx to Tone2 for releasing Firebird as a free synth. With so many synths available... I really never had a chance to check this out when it was active. Letting it go for free is a great way for people like me who dig around a lot before deciding to buy a synth.. This gives me a oppuriunity to see what else Tone2 has to offer & now has sparked my interest in his other products. I havent had any issues using this synth, installing it or due I have any complaints about the architecture of the synth (it is free!) .i LOVE the sound of it. It reminds me of having a poor man's Nexus. Not in the patches but a similar sound quality... Atleast to my ears. I own Synthmaster & Sytrus, and also have a few other freeware synths that I use & each has a different sound & way of working. This is a welcome addition!

2nd...
I read alot of forums before i post. I dig around for a lot of info before i use things because not only do I stay informed but I also learn new tricks in the process. When people complain so much about freeware i think its really ignorant. Granted, a developer should know there is a problem. But to complain about how something being installed is really just a waste of time. Most of the developers are just normal people like u & me who have an idea go with it & dont try to look back too much. Understand that if u dont like something that someone is giving away for free you dont have to use it . EVERY computer behaves differently with different plugs. Because x, y & z work fine.. The next one might not. Im sorry gentlemen.. thats life! Only bigger companies have the resources to check multiple systems & configurations. Take it for what it is & if its not your cup of tea.. Then leave it at that.
I read more than post = I listen more than I talk

You're right. Also it isn't like Tone2 is some million dollar enterprise which can do anything with its customers. I'm actually a bit sorry i jumped on the bandwagon earlier in this thread, when it turned out that all the plugin does is check in its folder for existing blacklisted keyfiles (which i believe it does). I'm thankful they released this plugin for free, and i'm not bothered with this method of checking for illegal copies. :tu:

@ Halma: Thanks for the tips, will help me for sure. :)
