While it's an interesting concept. And if you accept something like that as a belief system it may work or not work for you. However IRL happy and sad songs and all the emotions beyond and in between can be found in any key.

When working with vocalists or taking a more serious approach to theory such ideals fall flat. All vocalists have ranges and within that range they have a smaller range that they work most comfortably with. Generally they build upon the successes of one or a few keys. Frank Sinatra was such a vocalist. As a result his arranger would transcribe songs to his favored key and those wishing to write for 'Old Blue Eyes' would specifically write in the key of Ab. Yet if it were a happy song he would sing it happy a sad song he would sing it sad.

He's not the only vocalist who has a preferred key and range. Rock guitarists generally start out playing a lot of open chords on a guitar tuned to standard tuning. Thus develop preferences for keys that utilize those open strings for maximum effect. E-A-D-G (though rarely B) and C (as open C has to notes that ring to an open note) In fact there is a very popular guitar study method called CAGED. Which uses the foundation of the 5 open chords (made moveable) and the 5 fretboard positions to teach connecting melody and harmony.
If you live in those five keys you'll find the way to make the most of them.

In short if what you believe to be true about a specified keys emotive qualities is based on "What you believe" You may find your belief system challenged as you expand your awareness of songs that do not adhere to your belief system. Simply because someone dead or alive carries an assumption does not make that assumption true whether it's written in a book or posted on the internet.

And with that I leave you with the master of emotive phrasing. If you still believe it's a matter of key choice then you didn't bother to watch or listen to the inflection he gives via timing and note articulation (technique)

you mike r speaking about tuning.. every instrument can be tuned into key.. its maybe impossible but you can add color adding pads from absynth.. he is capable..

Not at all. I'm speaking of technique.

Tuning and timbre are subjects for a different discussion.

Timing amongst other emotive techniques is intimate and emotive as are other devices musicians use. The same goes for the character of the attack, decay and resonance. When you are having a highly emotional conversation do you think about what key it is in? Do you think about how your voice selects the notes it does to make a statement? No. It is in the way you say things not what you say that carries the emotive character. It's not what you say as much as how you say it. How you say things musically gets into the expressive techniques.

When you speak in normal conversations do you sound like tts - http://www2.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php

Or do you emphasis different words and use them to support the emotive quality of your statements?

If you don't sing then your instrument should become your voice.

Either you are unable or unwilling to try and let your fingers dance to the music of your heart. In either case I wish you peace as I have nothing else to offer you in your search for personal expression.

thanks;)

This is SO COOL!

If I play clusters, 88 notes are sufficient, I get all emotions and colours at the SAME TIME.

Be careful though because you interrupt the recycling of emotions and colours back into the universe if you drain
the cosmos for too long. Millions and millions of worlds can die if you dont let the emotions recycle back into space after you have used them. Then many many earthlings and aliens will be very sad even if you play happy notes or happy scales.

But what happens if you do this accidentally. All MIDI notes are stuck in you DAW and the PANIC button does not work!!
Please phsycho HELPs me!?

So if the Gorillaz kill all life, God will restore it? Im so relieved!

Then we don't need, Christian Schubarts, Chakras, doctrines of Affects etc and can just make the music the way we like it...

But seriously, research like this is really interesting.

Sorry for only providing links to abstracts of scientific articles. This kind of research is becoming more common and may be interesting for anyone interested in music. It actually relates to psychos first question in a way.
