Folks:

Pardon me, but I'm fairly new to this stuff...

I'm having trouble running the MFreeEffectsBundle--I'm trying to run it in a small plug-in platform called VSTHost (http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm (http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm)), rather than within a bigger program like Ableton Live, Cubase, ProTools, etc. (none of which I own; I have had limited experience using Cubase in the past, but not for many years).

I want to try out some of its effects for a slightly unusual use (onstage live processing of vocals; I need to replace my hardware setup--Moogerfooger ring modulator pedal, delay pedal, mic preamp with send/receive EFX loop jacks--with something lighter in weight: my Windows laptop, an audio interface with built-in mic preamp and the right software should do, if I can get it working. I'll probably buy some of the more powerful Melda effects if my trial of the freebies succeeds. So, my questions:

--Are the Melda plug-ins compatible with VSTHost? If so, how do you get them working together? It seems (from its manual) that VSTHost will search for .dll files for plug-ins, but I haven't found any for MFreeEffectsBundle;

--If Melda plug-ins can't work with VSTHost, can anyone recommend an inexpensive and low-resource host? I'd hate to have to spring for a full version of Ableton Live or some such thing.

My current environment (will be upgraded/updated at some point TBA, but I'd *love* to get things working with this gear in the next week or so): Dell laptop/Windows XP Home Edition/M-Audio FireWire Solo interface.

Thanks!

Hi,

I just checked, the plugins work in it (you need to use 32-bit version of course). Quite frankly this thing looks very very oldschool and how stable it is, that's really a question. I'd suggest checking Reaper. It may not be the most fancy looking nor easiest to use, but still 100x better and definitely very powerful.
