I don't care much about authenticity, what I use the Reelbus for is to soften transients and add some low-mid warmth on 2buss so I wonder whether Satin can do the same thing but with better quality (that is, better enough to justify the price gap) and also whether it is more CPU efficient (Reelbus is a considerable hog at my system and it keeps me from using Reelbus on tracks, I have to replace it with VoS Ferric which I like less soundwise).
If you find Reelbus to cpu intensive then you won't find Satin better. Reelbus is just a bit less than Satin, around 4% in an empty Ableton project, where Satin is about 5%.

I don't agree. Nothing beats the TB Reelbus Old and Rusty algorithm for wow & flutter. But I like that obvious effect.

Tonight I tried Satin myself. I have no idea WTF is ren verb and neither do I have anything lexicon or exponential audio (Valhala does it for me) but I have to say that I liked Satin waaaaaay better than Reelbus, not to say Ferric. I'm sure it's not just novelty effect. The presets called "mastering" or like that are really in place at 2buss and the true magic starts when running drumloops at hot levels and messing when encoders - instant Prodigy or 90' jungle. I failed badly trying to get the same feel from Reelbus.

Before Satin I thought that Reelbus is good ... :?

Dear Urs, please, don't release Diva 1.3 in September. I cannot afford buying both at the same month.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

ren verb is pretty good imo, I own lex too

I tried Satin on a mix, just the saturation feature, and instantly loved it and almost as instantly bought it. I'm not ready to sell Slate VTM just yet, but my first thought was "wow, this just rendered VTM obsolete." It's that good

Then I tried Satin as a delay unit.. Wow! Very cool. So now I'm thinking I can replace Echoboy and VTM with one plug in and be 100% ILOK free.

Btw. it seems that Rec EQ to "flat" and Repro EQ to "IEC 15ips" comes near to the Slate VTM 2" 1/2" track/FG9 tape 32ips. But it cannot be completely matched (phase canceled) because there are too many different variables.

Where are the presets in the demo?

You should find them easily. Are you sure you clicked the preset box in the install phase?

Optimal number of audio plugins is one more than you currently have.

I installed the Satin Beta again to give it another try.
It seems that the demo limitations are a lot heavier after 2min. So I tried to open and export it as quick as possible :D
This is a small track I made (but not finished yet) and where I put 10x Satin on it with settings relatively close to Slate VTM. Drums and stuff are grouped so I need only 10x Satin (the song has some more tracks).

No idea how VTM sounds as I avoid iLok on my rigs. I have other contenders, including a well stocked UA2. Re: Satin. Tried it, loved it, bought it.

Worked fine using Samplitude Pro X, latest version. I pulled up a variety of tracks recorded/mixed over the last decade, various projects. Did nothing fancy, just dropped it in across all channels, tweaked it. Sounded great. Dropped it on the master, tweaked it, sounded great. Props to all.

Oh... I got a kick out of seeing this word used: Asperity.
