We have had a problem with Windows XP since yesterday. We're going to work on a new compile and new installers.Seaside Music wrote:I DL'd 1807 yesterday and had some fun with it last night in Samplitude. Tried twice to get 1818 today from links both at GS and here, and each time I try to install I'm getting an error:
Runtime Error (at-1:0):
Cannot import dll:<utf8>C:DOCUMEN~......
(as always, a bugfix for something often comes with a flock of new issues)

Yeah, we see the same thing in Reaper and I think also in Samplitude. It reminds me of the problems people have with our EQ-control in Zebra, also in Reaper.cameron87 wrote:Hi, just wanted to point out an issue I'm experiencing in Reaper v4.51. When turning knobs they often reset to their original position after moving them. They only update to their new position when I close the Satin interface and open it up again. This is something that doesn't happen all the time, but more often than not.
Interestingly, when grouped, the equivalent knob on other Satin instances do update correctly. So I'll often have one satin with the wrong knob value and the others all correct. This is fixed when I close and reopen the offending Satin instance.
Hope this makes sense.
Cheers,
Cameron
I'll install Reaper on my machine and I'll log the com to see what's different, and whether there is a fix or not.

Just a quick info for you people:
I think you're using the JUCE Framework?
Because if so, then if you messed with a parameter in SATIN, then you can't control the host anymore with hotkeys.
An example (which I forgot in my bugreport though mail) once more would be Wavelab 8. Though it could be a WL8 issue as well (since it was recoded from scratch since WL7, and it behaves a bit picky since then).
Just teling you that in case someone is filing that as Bug Report.
Oh and... both Cubase and Wavelab is crap in terms of the preset bar in the top middle. Doesn't give me a proper dropdown. Only the regular preset system works. Not that big of a deal, but clicking extra to get out of the preset window is a bit moot.
I sent in the rest through mail.

No Juce here... we'll look into Wavelab compatibility, but that's a general thing - non of our plugs work in it as they should.

now that I am what they call an early adopter it would be really nice to have a working installer for winxp where I intend to use it. taking the dll from the temp unpacking path just isn't a workaround (not that I expected that, but it was worth a try...

Sorry, but until we figure out what went wrong, I'd suggest to use rev 1807:kylie wrote:now that I am what they call an early adopter it would be really nice to have a working installer for winxp where I intend to use it. taking the dll from the temp unpacking path just isn't a workaround (not that I expected that, but it was worth a try...)

ah, yes, thanks, urs. meanwhile I could do with a zipped version of the current build as well, but 1807 might be ok until it is finally released. no problems with a pre if...
whoah! can't use the vstplugins sub dir for the data directory, as it was with all other u-he plugins I have. must be that post-xp stuff I heard of...
if there was a possibility to chose that path on xp anyway (maybe with a "be warned" pop up) I'd be happy. if not, I'll probably have to use most recent installers for the other stuff to have it all in one place...

Thing is, the naked dll doesn't work on XP either... we use the plug-in itself to create shortcuts, and the installer fails because the plug-in doesn't workkylie wrote:ah, yes, thanks, urs. meanwhile I could do with a zipped version of the current build as well, but 1807 might be ok until it is finally released. no problems with a pre if...

As for install paths... it was a struggle, and it's an ongoing struggle. Our data shows that the support incidences involving installation have gone down dramatically after the April 2013 update. We have increased our comfort working on Windows development though (strange sentence, eh?), so we'll be working on more user comfort on Windows shortly. The font rendering quality seemed the most pressing issue (mostly solved in Satin), and an option for the user to locate the data folder "afterwards" will be one of the next things. Alongside an uninstaller because we now have 4 plugins in different locations, soon to be 6. And we also have a registry entry I think. So yeah... a lot of stuff happening on Windows, and thankfully I don't have to reboot into Bootcamp anymore (we have another dedicated Win Dev machine now, readily set up for pair programming).

Since the VST2 version works normally currently in Wavelab (as long as I don't touch the sync button!), I know my ways around it.
As U-HE barely does any sales, and there is also no "tape machine retired due to SATIN" campaign, I think 89USD until mid October(!!!) is more than fine - no?JustusHall wrote:What do early adopters fill in under:

The company needs to stay alive, and I remember Urs saying that they need(!) at least several hundred users with VAT in order to make it all even again.
If I wouldn't have been so persistent in terms of asking for EU prices, I don't think that the shop link would have been posted. So... early adopters actually help(!) U-HE in a good way, and you get to use the plugin one week sooner than planned.
At your own risk.
