So you can ONLY use the pulse wave in paraphonic mode? Hmmm... Quite a bit limiting. But at least there's SOME polyphony inside.

That's not what i said. I said that the Paraphonic mode uses a Pulse wave but not that the monophonic mode does not have it's own Pulse. Osc 1 + 2 could use a variable Pulse (monophonic) while Osc 3 has a Square (+ Saw and Triangle).

Don't know how relevant this is, but on the Waldorf Rocket, paraphonic mode is done with a supersaw- the more notes you play, the less super it becomes...

THe Rocket and Pulse 2 are not really comparable. The Rocket could play chords which does not mean it's paraphonic...
The Pulse 2 will not contain the "Supersaw" of the Rocket.

AFAIK the multimode filter of the Pulse 2 will be different to the Rocket filter too.

More details when the synth is published...

It divides down one oscillator into separate frequencies and sends them all through one filter and one envelope.
Is that not paraphonic ?

I realize they are two completely different synths, just looking for hints till all is eventually revealed....

The Rocket could play chords which theoretically you could also do with a 3 oscs monophonic synth.

In a paraphonic synth (like in the Pulse 2) it's not necessary to play chords, you could for example play one note in the bass region and another one (or a chord...) in a high octave.
The biggest practical difference of paraphonic and polyphonic synths is that the retrigger behavior of the envelopes which with polyphonic synths is independent for each note.

It is paraphonic - those chords still go through one filter and are shaped by one envelope.

I agree, honestly i do not really care how it is done exactly. Important is that it's possible to play pads and polysynth sounds with the Pulse 2 (and the monophonic waveforms/modes including the Pulse still work normally)...

As already mentioned the difference to the Rocket seems to be that it's not necessary to play chords when playing more than one note.

Can't wait. Any one have any idea on price? I will probably get the rocket as well though as it really does sound good. For a digital osc it sounds amazing from the demos I have heard.
