Not directly music related, but I'm sure some of you Mac users out there have use for Camtasia 2 (yes, legal current full version incl TechSmith registration) and maybe Parallels Desktop (Win apps in OSX).

Also some other stuff in there, but more "consumer related" than interesting for power users IMHO.

You need to pay more than $13.01 (="beat the average price" which is constantly changing) to get it.

So for the potential Screencasters out there... legal Camtasia 2 license for a tenner plus peanuts, is that a deal or what!

i dont have a mac but i'd be interested in camtasia for windows, and crossover for linux.. i'd like to know if it would be possible to register these 2 on other platforms but i doubt it. (im not interested in the rest)

They seem to be different products. On Windows it's Camtasia Sudio.

I picked up Camtasia 2 in another Mac bundle deal, and it's actually the Mac only version.

I wouldn't mind picking up the ray tracing app and narrator (well for $13, I'm interested). I'm curious to find out if I can give away the Camtasia license since it would be a duplicate. Same thing goes for Crossover, which I should add has been great for running a windows version of Reaper to use some of my windows only plugins.

YES! I received my eBay bargain Alesis A25 today, and it works perfectly with the iPad4!! Like my other peripherals, it says that there is "not enough power", but when I plug it in through a cheap (Ativa) unpowered USB hub - it works just fine. When I get the error, I just have to unplug the lightning cable and plug it back in to get it running. This also works with my new (used) Korg PadKONTROL, the "Realtone" USB guitar cable from My Rocksmith XBOX game...and even my Blue Yeti microphone!

So, I just grabbed Cubasis at a nice discount (during IFA), and I can now lay down quality grooves, vocals, guitar, and keyboard parts on the iPad easily - albeit one at a time, since each USB peripheral can only run on its own due to Apple's power constraints (although I haven't tried running them all concurrently while powering the USB hub yet!). I have, however, already confirmed that my Presonus AB 44VSL works on the iPad4 too, in case I want to record multiple microphone/guitar/line signals at the same time using Auria or Cubasis (and it has midi ports as well).

We appear to be experiencing a real revolution in economical mobile recording - assuming that you already have an iPad, of course...which is not at all "economical" (but has so many other uses).

Now, if I could just figure out how to use USB interface and CHARGE the iPad at the same time, the perfect mobile studio might be within reach...

Well this unit appears to be class compliant and you mentioned that the o8 needed special drivers if I read right so that would indicate that the fw is different anyway so maybe...

@chrisby: I completely agree. It was a slight risk, since I bought it with the sole intention of using it on the iPad (I already have an Oxygen8)...but your feedback made me feel more comfortable with the decision. Thanks for that!

@GaryG: It is the exact same design, in black, but the firmware appears to be updated for USB class-compliance. When I connect the Oxygen8 (mine is an older MidiMan version), the iPad simply says that it's "not supported". The A25, on the other hand, shows up in Cubasis as "A25".

Yup, got mine a couple of days ago as well. Totally worth the $25 imo (how is it this inexpensive?!).

I just plan on using it as a portable controller with my Macbook Pro on the road to flesh out ideas quickly. As others have stated, my Macbook immediately recognized this when I plugged it in and I was able to launch Kontakt/get it to work right away.

Modwheel/pitch-bend/rotary controls are decent and I can see myself using those controls to supplement my main MIDI keyboard in my desktop setup. The key action feels somewhat cheap though (not that I was expecting too much in that department at $25) but it gets the job done. As mentioned the keys are velocity sensitive and overall it works well. At $25, it was a no brainer.

Usually, you launch Steam in order to play games that you buy through that service. I'm not sure how it would work with a plugin that you launch from your DAW.

Steam is an online store mostly for games but other software as well.

Remember: Steam products can't be sold. And remember the DRM. I'd really think twice before buying audiosoft there.
