Or at least give us milliseconds readouts. We can do the math ourselves. Oh wait... not if we can still mess with the tape speed.zvenx wrote:+10004damind wrote:...............
I think a additional info only for time synced stuff.. eg. "4,00 (1/4)" in the info bar could be a quick workaround. Nice would be of course a right-click menu to select such typical delay times (1/8, 1/8d, 1/4, 1/4d,...)

Let's first get our 1.0 out and the discuss future improvements. We're too overworked to discuss them right now...Compyfox wrote:Or at least give us milliseconds readouts. Still confusing as funk, Urs. But yes - first bugs, then add ons.
BTW:
I could somewhat get a Roland Space Echo Sound (based upon the Genuine Soundware GS-201 - which I still find better for the task), but with massive editing.
Important bits:
- Vintage Tape
- REC EQ: NAB / Repro EQ: IEC 15ips (though AES30 has a lower highshelf)
- Hiss: 3 o'clock, Asperity: Maximum, Crosstalk: lowest, Wow&Flutter: 12 o'clock, Bias: Maximum (which cuts away a lot of highend)
- Repro Heads: Gap to maximum (again, cuts the highend), Bump at 12 o'clock)
- Headroom: maximum
- In the delay section -> Lowcut: 620Hz, Highcut: between 1,6kHz and 1,7kHz
- Limit: off
Now you can play with the input gain to drive the signal more into the tape, and if someone understands the "speed modes" in delay with the specific heads, turn off the sync to host and get going.
The Roland RE-201 had three heads and a place reverb. So keep that in mind. I unfortunately couldn't get any grittier tape. But it's a start. The rest is down to fine tuning.
According to the GSi GS-201, the heads are apart about 113 ms for Head 1, 220 ms for Head 2 and 331 ms for Head 3 - whatever that represents in SATIN. But start to setup your tape delay with 15ips and you can cause a lot of havoc, just like most of the clones out there.
If I figure out the delay lines, I can provide a preset. So please be patient.

Okay, have thrown together something that "should" gear towards the idea of the RE-201 works fine in sync mode - fine tuning might be possible as soon as the whole distance stuff makes more sense.
Example:
Not tempo synced, the distance dials show the distance of the heads in ms!
Tempo Synced: the distance dials show delay times in 1/8, 1/4, etc
Then it's darn easier to setup and simple to modify.
Either way, here's my preset - if the additional info is added to SATIN, then I'll update it.
SATIN Studio Compyfox Network Presets (v01)
Just copy them into the preset folder of SATIN (usually in satin.data then presets), or throw it into the Delay subfolder.
Enjoy.

In the meantime while you fixing stuff, we can listen to some of Jayney's new songsUrs wrote:Let's first get our 1.0 out and the discuss future improvements. We're too overworked to discuss them right now...

hahaha - I actually have the full songs on my machine
The whole "found your own label and then get your songs on iTunes" is a nightmare. This must be the slowest process I've ever seen.

Oh, is the EP not available on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify,Google Music...?Urs wrote:hahaha - I actually have the full songs on my machine![]()

IMO it's easier, not so expensive and quicker to use some electronic distributions. It needs 3 days for me to have a song on iTunes and about 12 days to have it on Amazon (international, Amazon Germany needs 4 additional days).

Well, iTunes was just meant to be an example. It'll be avilable everyhwere. I hope... we're just relying on "friends with contacts" to set things up, and those friends are very busy with their own stuff. Hence it takes quite long...4damind wrote:Oh, is the EP not available on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify,Google Music...?

Btw. it seems that crashes are gone on the Mac version.
Still waiting for Win version to finish compile (had to restart the process).
Stress test shortly.

I found strange behavior:
I have two channels, with one instance of satin on each. Satin has two groups. When I open Satin form channel 2 which is using group 2. If I click on group 1 button and group 2 settings seems to disappear i.e. i can switch back, but there's no difference in sound
I don't think it's platform dependable, but I'm on win7 64/reaper 64

I think it's something we need to clarify, and maybe we need input from users to master this.david.beholder wrote:I found strange behavior:

At the moment, Groups rely on the instances of Satin that are open. If a Group is empty, i.e. there's no Satin part of that Group, then there's no setting in the Group. The first Satin that joins a Group becomes the "Group Master" so to speak, and any other Satin that joins will take over the same settings.
Now, if all Satins that were on a Group leave the Group, then there's no "Group Master" anymore. Thus the next Satin (with different settings) that enters this Group will again become its Group Master. Thus, whatever setting was used on that Group before, is now gone.
#---
We have discussed the option that the Groups will "memorise" whatever setting was on them if all Satins leave the Group. So that, if any Satin comes back to it, that Satin would be set to the Group's memory.
But as the whole concept of Grouping is somewhat new to us (and it's a development stunt as well), we have decided to stick to our initial implementation (no Group memory) until we get feedback from the users.
We'll certainly have a thread about this.

regarding Cubase crashes... please try those with Cubase/Nuendo
Note: You must have a Release candidate from first post installed before using these.
