Post

While most existing VST plug-ins can be hosted by Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer V2 and Blue Cat's PatchWork in most host applications, there might be a few incompatibility issues, due to the nature of the VST standard and the number of plug-ins and hosts implementations.

We have started this thread in order to gather problems so that they can be fixed. Please note that this might require additional work with individual plug-ins manufacturers, so feel free to let them know about the issue too, it may be fixed faster. You can also post here success stories to let us know that it works for you!

Feel free to post here any compatibility issue, if not listed yet, with the following information: Operating System, Host Application (32 or 64-bit), Plug-in, issue description.

Thanks!

Known issues:
- (Win/Mac - AAX) Some Slate plug-ins crashes in Pro Tools 10 or 11 (VCC for example). This will be fixed when they release a new version, just like the latest VBC fixes the problem.

Reported, to be verified:
- (Mac) Virsyn VTape-Delay or Reflect in Nuendo 6
- Lexicon PCM Reverb in Pro Tools 11 on Windows 7, on an aux bus only (works on insert)
- (Mac) Korg Legacy Wavestation plugin crashes PT11
- AlgoMusic's M42 Nebula crashes PT10
- Image-Line Cytrus crashes PT10

Fixed in 2.04:
- Some Reverb tails are cut (Valhalla, Lexicon)
- Loading Kontakt 5 may prevent Pro Tools from exiting in some situations

Fixed in 2.03:
- (Mac) all Fabfilter Plug-ins crash (editor open)
- (Mac) some older Nomad Factory plug-ins crash in some hosts (Cubase, Reaper and maybe more)

I'm having issues hosting Lexicon PCM Reverb in Pro Tools 11 on Windows 7. It seems to work okay if MB-7/Lexicon PCM is used on a channel insert. But if you send from a buss to an Aux track with MB-7/Lexicon PCM installed, (like you would typically use a shared reverb effect) it creates all kinds of unpredictable instability with Pro Tools.

Also, is it possible to host Waves plug-ins? All I see in the VST folder is the WavesShell-VST.dll file and it returns an error if I try to load it.

Thanks for the heads up for the Lexicon plug-in. We'll test try to reproduce and add it to the list!

The plug-in currently does not support shell VST plug-ins (multiple plug-ins contained in a single file), so that's why you cannot load these (yet).

Thanks for the fast response. I understand the shell issue.

Here's a feature request/suggestion: Would you consider putting (B)ypass and (E)dit buttons to the left of the hosted plug-in slots? This would allow a user quick access to bypass or edit the hosted plug-in without going into a menu. Just a thought...

Yes, it's one of the features that we intend to add in the future. The main issue is to find room for it :-).

Just a heads to say that v2.01 fixes the "no sound" problem when using virtual instruments and the plug-in was fed with silence (typically on an empty track).

Hi there,

just wanted to let you know that we have VST Shell support working in the Lab.

Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer 2.02 is now officially available!

New Features:
- Added support for plug-ins bundled into a VST Shell.
Bug Fixes:
- Some plug-ins used to crash when reloading a Pro Tools session in Pro Tools 11 (this was reported for Kontact 5 for example).

Post

Blue Cat's MB-7 Mixer 2.03 is here:

New Features:
- Tempo sync support for hosted plug-ins.
- AudioSuite support (offline processing) for the AAX version.
Plug-ins Compatibility Improvements:
- Some plug-ins that required tempo sync used to crash on load.
- Fixed compatibility issues with FabFilter plug-ins.

You may want to retry all plug-ins that failed with the previous version, as tempo sync support fixed a couple of issues.

Acustica Audio Nebula loads fine at 44.1 Khz, but with other sample rates, reopening a previously saved session, manual program reload is required. It happens in Logic, Cubase, Reaper, every Daw, all Os, from what I know.
It's possible to fix it?
Thank you

This plug-in indeed seems to have problems when the sample rate changes, not only within the MB-7 Mixer plug-in. We'll try to get them involved o find out how to fix this, but you might also want to report the issue to them so that they are aware of it.

Hi

Will this ever host AU plug ins? I stupidly bought it without trying the demo and I'm a logic user and all my plug ins are AU :(

Cheers

Hi,

we cannot make promises on future features, but it is currently on the wishlist.

Most plug-ins manufacturers actually release VST versions of their plug-ins though, so you should be able to install the VST versions of your Audio Units as well in most cases, can't you?

Scratch that. just realised i have vst's as well :0...ha ha

I'm pretty sure I always tick the AU button only but my VST folder (never knew it existed) is pretty full :)
