Has anybody thought about making a Rack Extensions VST adapter so one likewise could load VSTs into Reason?
I'm thinking it would be an app many would appreciate to have

Most of the rack extensions are things vsts have in abundance. Except for the cv tools.electro wrote:What about rack extension to VST?
long story short he said vst as a format sucks. I highly disagree but hey that's Ernst's opinon.MachineClaw wrote:Interview with Propeller Head CEO:

Page 10 of thread I said something about a Rack/VST thing and on that page someone posted SDK won't do it.
They also did a VST to DX one for PC along with a VST to AU one for MAC.Numanoid wrote:FXpansion made an RTAS-VST adapter so that one could use VSTs in Pro Tools.

Not responding to you directly but to the idea that the CEO of one company doesn't appreciate the product technology of another...KevWestBeats wrote:long story short he said vst as a format sucks. I highly disagree but hey that's Ernst's opinon.MachineClaw wrote:Interview with Propeller Head CEO:

I like Propellerhead but yeah I kind of feel like they made it more difficult than need be for new instruments. I mean RE makes sense for Reason but to me finding a way to make vst work in Reason makes much more sense. Then again I think everyone should support vst at this point.VitaminD wrote:Not responding to you directly but to the idea that the CEO of one company doesn't appreciate the product technology of another...KevWestBeats wrote:long story short he said vst as a format sucks. But well of course... he is running a company that has it's own proprietary plugin 'standard' for it's own host software.. he isn't going to say 'VST is wonderful' even if he thought it (which it seems he doesn't) because that would mean less control for him and the props as a company.. even more people would be beating down his front door, 'demanding' VST support.. And, if he implemented it, that would mean he'd have to play by Steinberg's rules in part..
I think one of the rules in business is 'Don't praise the features of your competition's products'...
I'm sure they have technical reasons too... but it is a business.. they aren't oblivious to this.
Besides, he states clearly, "Very rarely in history have multiple companies come together to create new successful standards. Most such attempts drown in politics and administration." Thereform, it seems he realizes it is very difficult to start anew in this sector.. and it seems the flipside (to me at least) of this is, VST as an audio plugin 'standard' should be around for quite a bit longer.. simply because OF politics and administration typical of corporate environments.
Probably a good thing it is this way... As flippant as Steinberg can behave.. I think I trust propellerhead even less..
