Wait, I'm confused... there's clearly a Hiss control knob under "service" on the demo I just downloaded...
which, by the way, I f'n love.
I'm officially amending my previous "not that interested" stance as I'd buy this just for the delay functions.
which, by the way, I f'n love.

No, we really don't. But this is KVR, we like to bristle with hisspidity and many suffer from hisstamine reactions. It's part of our hisstochemistry. Some of us may be practising hisstologists, while pipeline, hisself has a workflow that's not really hisstocompatibile. A valid point. Lowering the hissing threshold could lead to a more flexible hisstogenesis. But, I do hope it stops short of a full hissteroscopy, for the sake of the children.Compyfox wrote:... do we even need to care these days that we wasted one insert for a gate post a tape machine?!

I WANT TO APOLOGIZE!
I don't know why but I thought that satin didn't add any noise and it does. This is especially noticeable with multiple instances.
I'm sorry to all. I missed my shock therapy treatment, I'll not make that mistake again.

Which would have been handy to hear instead of long diatribes about how it isn't perceptible (not accusing you, but, just look at the replies I got instead)dalor wrote:Hasn't URS said by now at least 2 times (or more?) the next update will have a disable button? I'd assume that a compressor would always be used before the tape, and then after mixing into stems or busses, maybe before another tape.pdxindy wrote:a compressor following each instance of Satin.

Actually also in the official SATIN thread, and several times in the VTM vs. SATIN thread as well. By both Sascha and Urs if I may add.
@mandolarian:
You might consider a DeeSSer?
Nah seriously... still don't get all the drama.
Don't like a plugin, don't use it. Don't like certain old gear (since it's too limited and noisy), don't use it. Like something else that does exactly what you want, use it instead and stop bothering.
Now if you'll please excuse me, my TK747 demands some attention. Or was is the GOBO frame I'm currently building... hm...

Happily, this isn't the dismissive, dug-in attitude of the majority.Compyfox wrote:Nah seriously... still don't get all the drama.

If I like a plug-in generally but have ideas about certain aspects of it, I contact the dev with my thoughts. Then it's up to the dev to implement them or not. I could list several personal examples of this kind of dialogue, but that's neither here nor there. I think it's high time to end this pointless sub thread.

Doing the same myself. But else, yes... agreed.
Let's wait until the next days what the team decides. But I think Urs will be right with saying "it tones down some comments - but it wouldn't drastically increase sales".

IMO, the "Global Noise Bypass" is a "Hiss or Miss" type of a thing...
Will it be good thing ? bad thing ? HISStory will ultimately judge !
(And back to earth : I say - NO. it seem more inappropriate then appropriate.
emulate analog workflow only to go back to digital because "we can" ?
