Not so nice,
Cubase Studio (now called Artist) can only upgraded to Cubase7 full not to Artist 7! While Artist 6 can upgraded to Cubase 7 full or Artist 7.
It`s not a bug... it`s a feature!

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Yes it does.
Thank you. :)

Poll options: "I'm starting right now learning Reaper", "that's ok" and "Not expensive enough, but can the cubase 8 box be gilded in the fine gold ?"

:dog:

Wonder if anyone thinks Steinberg will give a flying sh** about that thread. Sorry. Btw, there is a much, much better and more efficient way to protest against the upgrade price. Just don't upgrade. How difficult is that. Doh...

"We need another paid point release ASAP!!!"

Glad I haven't registered my v7 Artist copy.. and won't.. until 7.5 is released and I'm in the window to get it for 'free.' Even if that takes several months.. the rent is too high!!

To be perfectly honest, I don't mind paying extra for a product that is well-featured, stable, and reliable. I've had horrible stability issues with Sonar, even worse stability and performance issues with Studio One, and very few issues with Cubase. Maybe this is because aside from vocals, every track in every project I do is a softsynth based on technology that Steinberg has pioneered.

Add to that reliability the pop-up channel window with the most important processors already in there - the workflow becomes very hard to compete with.

To me, an extra hundred bucks is a reasonable price to pay for all that. I realize, others' mileage may vary by a few light years. And if Cubase doesn't work for you, don't buy it. But if it does, and if it works well - I don't see the need for greed.

Yes the options on the poll seem counter intuitive to me.. they'd probably get a better reaction if they simply had options 'too expensive, not buying upgrade' 'price is fine, will upgrade' 'price too low, will upgrade' or the like.

Oh, and actually followed up with action for the option they chose.. :hihi: THIS part is crucial..

Exactly. Because otherwise it's just agitating, and drooling over agreement. And i didn't think the "Use Reaper" argument was such a common thing, that it turns up in the Steinberg forum now too. :help:

Another option for a poll should be "willing to pay if the upgrade is actually worth the new amount." Sure I'll pay $200 to upgrade from 6.5 if it finally includes the long-promised multi-out instrument tracks, as well as dockable windows. Add in Logic's per-region looping and I'd think I'd died and gone to DAW heaven. Their track record of late tells me none of this will be in Cubase 7.anything. Will there be a paid-for 7.5 update? They're raising their prices, so it would be nice to know how else the roadmap has changed. If this is a pay more for more change, then maybe it's worth it. But if not, well, there are cheaper DAWs out there that have already improved their workflow (even if they have fewer features).

If they have a couple of hundred thousand users, which i would guess would be a conservative figure, are you saying 40 million of revenue of a download store with no middle man or packaging costs, even for big apple, is insignificant?
Yes, that is a GROSS figure. A couple years of 10ish devs can run several million, + tools + royalties and licenses + support + distro (it isn't free to host/download that stuff) etc..

40 million doesn't go as far as you think it does in corporate America.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer
