It's hard to respond to this because it is what it is and if it's not your thing, it's not your thing.Arglebargle wrote:listened to the demos, not impressed at all. Not sure what people are hearing. Is it just that it loads fast?
Purity doesn't try to be anything other than the software answer to synths like the Sonic Cell.
The demos aren't impressive in the grand scheme of things (even though I think Jaehyoung Suh is an excellent musician) because they only show off the more basic presets and Motive sounds.
This is one of those synths with all those secret powers that no one will know about until they get really deep into the thing.
But its real strength is in being the best sketch pad I've ever used. Even though the thing wasn't working right yesterday, I still made a song, because playing around with it, trying to get it to work right, ultimately led to me going, "That's a cool arp" and then finishing it.
Tone2's Firebird taught me a lot of how to make trance music, and this synth taught me how to make electronic K-pop because those Motive presets not only show you how to use the sequencer, but they can also teach you the kinds of chords that are most commonly used, like minor 6th chords.
I love this thing.
But if you don't need a sketch pad, skip it.
Unless you want a 16 layer pad or lead machine. But I don't know how this stacks up to other more dedicated VAs, so yeah. Someone else can chime in and correct me.
