I read this a lot in marketing materials and I always think, "Who's using effects to make their drum loops interesting? Why not start with good drums and go from there?"
marketing people assume that everyone is into polishing turds... because that's what marketing is.
I'm always using a lot of FX on drums before sampling them, even if they're completely respectable as they are. Often I just want to add a lot of subtle colourations to make it a bit more unique. But then I'm not interested in what's "better" than what, it's the permutations of possibilities and being able to demonstrate anything interesting that I find that motivates me.

And I have to admit the Sigmund audio demos do have quite a cool colour to them.

Testing right now.

I think Sigmund sounds great. Some very nice chorus and flanger effects too. I still don't love the interface and oh my it's huge but it's usable. 4 Delay lines give you huge amount of possibilites because you can do so much with one only. And oh the CPU usage is quite big tho my laptop is getting pretty old.

I still don't have pure delay plugin except Satin so with the -20% discount I may buy this some day. Probably not now because I can manage what I already have. The price could be a bit less but D16 plugins are usually in sale on Audiodeluxe so it's okay.

So I think if you already have delays you don't need this one but if you don't Sigmund is a good option. I like it more than many other older delay plugins.

GUI design is not great, but I can live with it. I also generally hate tabbed GUIs, but I can live with that too. What'll sell it for me is if it has excellent presets.

I've been using Timeless2 for ages now but its woeful presets annoy me. Sure I can easily create my own - and do - but geez, it's only a delay, it should come with a big bank of good, workhorse presets.

So many delays, so little time... ime... ime....... :D

I think I'm gonna wait on this one....delay my purchase.

I tried the demo on Ableton Live and Studio one.
With Microtonic.
The CPU usage is a little high :(
But the sound is very good :)

I echo that sentiment.

Heck, I'm delaying downloading the demo. I know I'll just want it, I just want anything d16 has to offer. Unfortunately other things take priority at the moment, but I'll be watching KVR for feedback in the meantime...ime...ime...ime.

it's not my go to for everything but it's one of my fav all time plug ins.

i like FF timeless2 a lot. the modulation is just nuts. it can do so much and i like the sound of it.

there are so many delays.. all different. i love trying them out. but this D16 gui is a deal breaker.
Mess and all, I wouldn't avoid Sigmund because of it's UI. It's more along the lines of negligence than malice. The only plug in I refuse to buy solely due to it's UI is Olga because the design is malicious for the sake of being clever, and it's not that clever.

That said, I use a Lexicon MPX-1 multieffects rack processor and it's one of the worst UIs of all time. Sounds great and it was super cheap. If Sigmund sounds great at a good price, I just may end up with it.

Playing with demo now. The sound is epic - really fantastic. The GUI is a bit of a stale potpourri, but it's functional. CPU is a bit high, but in-line with what this thing actually is - a bunch of routable effects in one big (and slightly ugly) package. Sound-wise though, it kills.

Post

To be fair Olga's GUI wasn't designed with malice in mind, more to bring some of the wonder back to synthesis (by... um, confusing the hell out of you I guess? I certainly wasn't a fan as I've found a way to retain the wonder AND know what the hell I'm tweaking!), and you can switch in English language legending.

The GUI on Sigmund is a bit 80's Fugly but in a way I kinda like it like that. It gives it character. I'm an 80's kid and when I look at Sigmund I'm reminded of what in the 80's looked like futuristic hi-fi equipment with ugly masses of controls encrusted all over it.

Sigmund is also quite versatile as a multi-FX. It's got some serious FSU potential. I got a 50% loyalty discount which I suppose makes the decision on whether to pull the trigger slightly easier ;)

I have to say that now I have the GUI on my screen it certainly has an appeal to me (yes, also an 80's kid) and I like the size, especially compared to some of my other favorites. I know it could be much more efficient but I really don't mind the big fat controls.

First impression of the sound is positive. Great for audio mangling in all sorts of ways :D

Nah - Sony D7 - has the worst UI ever - sometimes over 200+ parameters and only 1x (stupid)circular knob to adjust everything. Sounds awesome though, probaly because of the 1.43Mega Hertz DA converter. Presets are good too, but hell if you just want to tweak it a little.

I like too. It is future proofed I guess, with regard to increased resolutions. To be fair to MFM2 though, it is resizable.
