About the viruses from kvr: Possibly some false alerts since they are newly coded plugs.

Do you mean Synthedit module virus warnings? Those aren't real viruses.

There so much good freeware around of high quality, that nobody should need to get warez to be able to record or play live.
That's what I don't get about this pirate issue. So much free stuff and still.

Well, the pirate issue has been debated to doomsday and it still exists. Probably just because they can.

I think Kirnu has an excellent solution. Cream runs in demo mode indefinitely and the only cripple (that I am aware of) is you can't save your creations. In my mind this is the best a developer can do for themselves; provide a working version with some features disabled.

Still, though, my guess is somebody will find a full working version on the warez sites.

Only those that wish to live their lives in the light are going to be paying customers. Just the way it is.

I think more emphasis should be put on educating those in the dark and hope for the best {to come out].

I try to avoid freeware that need to be installed, zipped "dll" files are preferred.

Actually, warning about virus (virii?) and trojans - false positive or not - is a good way to prevent people from using warez...

Unfortunately, no. Specific files found on system scan. Two pieces of software I did suspect the programmers here told me they were false alerts as you stated. Apparently they were not.

But I just did a google of MaxSynths and if I can assume it is the same as the OP, than I can tell you I haven't downloaded any of that software or soundbanks and so that's eliminated.

BBFG# - don't you run a vc scan just after you have made the DL?

I don't DL much any more since I have more than I'll ever use anyway, but I can't say I ever got a virus from anything from KVR.

I think the problem facing most producers these days is how to scale down their rig, instead of expanding it.

Using valuable time downloading and trying out pirated software is not the way to spend time for anybody that want to make money producing music.

Time should be spent learning our own current rig/setup instead. There is so much power hidden in most DAW's that are not utilized, because we are all thinking we need more gear, so we rather spend time on getting more gear, than learning properly what we have

Less is more ;)

Can I nick that for a song title, Sendy?! :D
Sure, it's not my concept :)

(my concept is randomly chopped breakbeats. nobody is allowed to copy this idea!)

There are warnings all over the place at KVR and internet. Meffy used to post about this all the time. Especially to suspect people that would come here thinking KVR was a good place to get "free" software. I've noticed over the years how that has subsided.

Still, the pirates exists and come here every once in a while thinking they will get that pat on the back. :hihi:

Yes, they were all zipped - .dll's
Except maybe that one from the 'one-synth challenge' winner.

Edit: I do come here for suggestions though. If I see something interesting, I'm more apt to highlight and google search to find its developer site.

Could you provide some links/names so we can verify/be aware?

Guilty as charged sir :hihi:

My GAS though is now filtered better and unless someone comes out with something really spectacular, I'm taking your advice and am learning what I have. :)
