Soon i'll start designing the next version of MuLab & MUX.
I want MuLab to stay simply easy yet creative, and MUX to have top-quality sound and deepness.

Even though i've reread the entire wishlist and made an initial personal selection, i want to have an up-to-date check with you users.
So please let me know your top 3 wishes for MuLab & MUX in order to boost your musical creativity, workflow and joy 8)
Pls only 3 requests per user, so be selective yourself and prioritize your personal wishes, then only post your top 3.

Feel free to think out of the box and even propose new product ideas.

Looking forward to your posts.

Cheers,

Jo

1. Frequency Modulation Module. 2 AUDIO inputs: Carrier and Modulator. 1 output: The resulting FM sound.

2. Modulation by audio. The higher the amplitude (volume) of the audio, the greater value it produces. The lower amplitude, the lower value.

3. Default set up for a new rack. I have items that I always place on my racks. When I add a track with a rack I would like a way to have the rack be created with what I put on it.

Note: If Freq Mod (will be Phase Mod) is added, it will be integrated into the oscillator. I guess "FM synth sounds" is what you mean, right?

There already is the Audio Envelope Follower module, it's in the Event Generators group.

You can already do that by creating a rack preset in your user library. When you added a new rack, load/drop that rack preset in/on that new rack.

SYSEX support for programdumping and stuff.

I just bought MUX and like it very much.

I would like to have the add module window stay open instead of having to reopen it for every module.

It would be great if the cabling worked the way it does in AudioMulch. You can click on a cable and insert modules without having to disconnect and reconnect them. You also get visual feedback when a cable has connected instead of having to let go of the mouse and hope it was connected.

An undo button would also be helpful.

Yes.

I didn't see that. Thanks!

Yes but I have to do that every time I create a new rack. It does get annoying. Maybe a way to set a rack preset as a default?

My wishes are basic, though maybe not in terms of implementation?

1. Top is WaitNote for record. I know it was declined, but it is my main problem with MuLab and may even cause me to defect. Just to clarify - WaitNote means the sequencer is Record Ready awaiting a MIDI note event from keyboard, as soon as you start playing the sequencer starts the Recording process.

2. Second has to be Buttons and LED's for the MuX Front Panels. Button's for On/Off and for Multi-select. Again just to clarify, for Multi-select, press Button and 'LED' shows status of, for example, Cutoff Type. So four LED's would be on FP with the four Cutoff Types and the Button would select between them. I'd prefer this way to a drop down as you can see straight away what is available without the need for going into menu's.

3. Long shot this, lol, but I'd like customisable menu's so I can remove stuff I don't use and make workflow easier and faster.

4. I know you said three, but as I doubt 1 or 3 will be considered... Minor one this though. The Browser buttons, Menu/Session buttons and any other similar buttons would do well to follow the new look of the Transport Bar's Play Button, et al.

Thanks for your consideration ;-)
Looking forward to M6, even though it means a new License for me :-( But I'm sure it'll be worth it.

They do!

Whether the next version will be M5.3, M5.5 or M6 is not yet defined.

Note: As you probably know me, i'm not replying to each post/item individually, but i do read everything and take everything in consideration, together with other considerations outside Kvr. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and wishes so far.

Can't you find a good solution using a MIDI shortcut to the "Start/Stop Recording" function?

It just isn't the same, sorry I'm not being picky, it's just that with WaitNote, soon as you start playing it records from the first note and is easily performed without pressing a button in time with first note.

Re: look of Buttons. No they don't, well not the way I mean. Look at the new Play button and then look at Menu/Session and Browser buttons. What's the difference? Play has dark background with light green triangle when pressed. That's according to my theme though. But those other buttons have light green bkgrnd and dark icons when selected. Where as it would be much better to copy the way the the Play button looks? Just my opinion :-)

Re: next version. Oh, I thought you were planning M6 next, hope there's some more for M5, always appreciated ;-)

Thanks

Not actually a user so probably my vote doesn't count (and plus I'd imagine this would be a lot of work). All that said I have seen others ask for it so I'll throw it out there anyway (and I'll add that I would buy if you had this) -

Mux Standalone option

1. Octave Up/Down button on Virtual Keyboard. seriously...I really want that. :(

well...that's all I want...for now.

Support for more than 16 MIDI channels (i.e. option not to merge MIDI ports).

Event recorder (record events at any point in the processing chain).

Even though I'm not a MacOSX user, I think it would be good to get MuX on MacOSX... or native JACK support for both MuX and MuLab... hmm... can't decide.
