Yes, you're right.K-Slash wrote:There isn't any tape sim yet.fmr wrote:+1 - I also only miss the White Channel and the Bus Compressor (and the Tape Sim, but for that I maybe get Satin instead)VitaminD wrote:Yes. I own all of those outside of the White Channel and the Bus Compressor.
This offer seems mostly directed towards those with only a few total IKM T-Racks plugins and not for us who have most.
Not that I'm complaining, but merely stating this deal doesn't apply for everyone nor do I think it was intended to apply for everyone.
Just a "tape delay". But nothing like a tracking or mastering tape machine emulation.

Can someone tell me how these IK Multimedia compressors and channel strips compare to the Softube, Native Instruments/Softube, Waves, Duende etc stuff? I was initially interested in Softube (and really liked what i heard when I demoed their grand and tube-tech channels), but this group buy seems almost too good to pass up on, provided their plugins being quality plugins.

The latest IK stuff are all top-notch. They really do a great job with their modeling.frejahel wrote:Can someone tell me how these IK Multimedia compressors and channel strips compare to the Softube, Native Instruments/Softube, Waves, Duende etc stuff? If you don't own any of their stuff, you can't go wrong with the Vintage Compressors Bundle : the Black 76 and White 2A are just awesome !
The British Series is also something to consider, especially the Bus Compressor and British Channel.

i use the what would be the vintage bundle in every project, especially the fairchild. it was a new piece of gear in T-Racks 3 (if i'm not mistaken), but it has aged very well (and IIRC IK gave it a revamp for T-Racks 4). i have the british channel as well (i own the Grand), and it's good for some things, not so good for others, depending on what you're after. all of them really impart a character to a sound. i have only softube grand channel to compare them to (demoed tube-tech channel but it didn't do much for me), and i would say that all of them get their use. i wouldn't sell off neither T-Racks stuff nor the softube channel. you can't go wrong with either of them, although perhaps the T-Racks vintage/british bundles offer more versatility as the softube channel can't really do aggressive compression.
Now, if only one of the bundles included white channel, bus comp and precision limiter, i would be interested in the group buy. otherwise, i'll wait for the next gear credits discounts.
you can download the demo and try for yourself, though - unlike softube, there's no iLok and you can re-demo them after a certain period of time.

Nope, IK revamped the Black 76 and White 2A following user demands, enhancing the modeling complexity.Burillo wrote:i use the what would be the vintage bundle in every project, especially the fairchild. it was a new piece of gear in T-Racks 3 (if i'm not mistaken), but it has aged very well (and IIRC IK gave it a revamp for T-Racks 4).

Hi guys,
I bought the Black 76, White 2A, and the Vintage Comp 670 here in the market place.
Installed CS, where I got the Metering, Classic EQ and Opto Comp for free.
So the 3 latter have "T-RackS CS" as a prefix in their file name (the DLLs), but the other three (76, 2A and 670) have "TRackS3" as a prefix.
Does it mean I have still the "old" versions?
If yes, how could I update them?
Thanks

well then it seems they got Fairchild right the first time
@Novalis no, if they are from T-Racks CS (i.e. if you done "restore my gear") they're the new versions.

Hm, I just entered the activation codes which the seller gave me into the Authorization Manager, where I was provided a link for downloading the respective plug-ins: and that's what I got.
Why are they not called T-RackS CS, too?
"Restore my gear" is kinda like an update option?

Restore my gear is done in Custom Shop app. when you do that, whatever you have on your account will be downloaded and activated on your machine. unless, of course, they're singles and i don't know something. i never dealt with singles TBH.

you can still try and do "restore my gear". it would probably work. as an example, i have Amplitube Ampeg SVX, Metal, Fender and Jimi Hendrix. I can download them as separate packages (that were available pre-Amplitube CS and even pre-Amplitube 3, not even 64-bit IIRC - just like your singles), or i can access them in Amplitube 3 by means of "restoring my gear" (it'll get whatever i have registered in my account and put it into Amplitube 3 despite me never downloading the standalone versions).

I did the "restore my gear" process.
I got three new DLLs in my plug-ins folder, all with the new "T-RacksS CS" prefix, in addition to the old ones.
For whatever reason, one of them "Vintage Comp 670" did not get recognized by my DAW (Studio One 2.6), all others are there like they should.
I compared the new White 2A with the "old" one on a vocal track with identical settings. The needle seems to move a little bit differently compared to the old one (showing the gain reduction).
I really would like to rename all T-Racks plug-in DLLs, to get rid of all the unnecessary prefixes, but if I do that, they can't be loaded by the DAW.
But that's another topic, actually

uninstall the singles, and you're done
as for renaming, some DAWs allow renaming without changing actual DLL's name. maybe your DAW can do that.
