Many thanks, though.

Maybe Peter from IK will come along this way later and can say something to this ;)
You've been given the correct advice already, I'm afraid. If you've done the Restore my gear function in Custom Shop as it appears you have, and you don't see the one plugin then you should contact support and they will be able to troubleshoot that issue. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/support

I would echo everything Theo said about the IK stuff. Their modeled plugins, specifically the Black 76 / White 2A, and the SSL Bus Comp / Channel Strips are all very good, among the best native emulations available, IMHO (only UAD is clearly better to my ears). On the other hand, I never really liked anything in the Quad series, especially as I have Ozone which is far superior for multiband processing. Even the stock multiband comp in Studio One does a better job than the IK equivalent, I think.

The IK Vintage 670 (Fairchild) is pretty good, but I prefer the model from OvertoneDSP whose sound is smoother and more analogish, I find.

If you've already demoed the Softube Channels, it's hard to say how you'd like the IK plugins by comparison. Very different beasts. I personally would take the Softube plugins over IK any day, but they aren't cheap. NI and Waves, among others, have more direct competitors to the IK plugs. I'd demo those before deciding which way to go.

One more thing: if I were thinking of buying any of these IK bundles, I'd first like to know if the licenses are NFR, and if not, whether a transfer fee applies to each plugin or to each bundle. And if you haven't gotten into any IK stuff already, please do yourself a favor and download / install the Custom Shop app first to make sure you don't mind the rather, um, "unique" way in which IK products are sold. Then you can also demo the plugins you're interested in ... for three whole days! Woo hoo. :D

Cheers,
Eddie

Thank you for all the input Theo and Eddie. Time to do some demoing! :)

It is a shame. The plugins sound ok and I quite like the Pultec and got some use out of it. But having gone through the whole custom shop rigmarole to try update T-Racks to a new DAW recently, and failing after a couple of hours to get the plugins I'd paid for working, I just ended up binning the lot.

I was having rather the opposite experience in terms of support from other plugin developers at the time and sometimes stepping back you gotta wonder why you should accept the anti customer polices. It's a crowded marketplace these days, I hope things change.

OK, thank you.

Any comment if/how it's possible to rename the individual plug-ins?
I find it quite annoying that they all have a long prefix in the DAW before the actual plug-in name.

@ Theo

I agree with you 100% on the White 2A.
I compared a lot of LA-2A emulations, and always liked the White the most.
The GUI is also among the best, altough it hasn't got the original form factor :hihi:

Can't agree with you on the Duende gate, though.
When I compared some gates, the included gate in Studio One delivered better results than the Duende strip.
Believe me, I didn't expect that

Your DAW would be where you'd rename, I don't know exactly which support it.

As far as these bundles, yes the ones you purchase are transferrable and with one transfer code.

Thanks.

Haha. Glad to know I wasn't the only one asking.

Got the Quad series. The imager is fantastic.

As for the CS, so far I have no problems with it, always functioned correctly, got the plugins I bought and so far I had no errors. I prefer T-Racks to Waves because Waves VSTs don't work in all DAWs (never gets recognized by my tool of choice, MuLab).

I ask because I am definitely converting to T-racks here. They have some fantastic processors, among the best I've encountered and the are bargains.

And agreed, the imager is great, I've wanted something to replace Ozone
s imaging function since I sold it.

There are definitely a few things cooking and I know there were multiple API units suggested. I'll have to get a better idea when the new gear will be ready because I know there is some coming.

Thanks for the kind words about the imager and at least one shoutout for Custom Shop working well ;)

Yes, API 2500 please please please! :)

I might even consider updating my IK products to CS if the API 2500 was in the offing!

Cheers

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored...

Custom Shop works well for me too (now even in Windows XP). Unfortunately, since I got the British Channel already, there's no deal that suits me
And I was waiting eagerly to get the White Channel and the Bus Comp.
