Hi to U-he & team, and to KVR: Sphere is complete and released now on www.aiynzahev-sounds.com
https://soundcloud.com/aiyn-zahev/zebra-wip
Aiyn Zahev Sounds presents Sphere for Zebra2, a new soundbank focused on progressive house & trance which also caters for a wider variety of electronic dance music.
This bank was produced with an emphasis on sounds with character and presence, patches are kept simple and effective: Basses have attitude, leads have crunchy mid-ranges, pads are silky and atmospheric sounds and effects are dreamlike.
Drums, rhythmic effects and arpeggios are included, and everything is designed to be genuinely useful in a mix with the addition of some interesting design choices not possible on many less complex synths.
I've also made heavy use of the new high quality filters introduced in the latest version of Zebra (2.6) which have both sweet & aggressive sounding analog characteristics.
150 sounds were designed for this bank, and 11 Midi files are included to give some examples of use or to provide the basis for entire new songs.
This is a bank for Zebra which is not designed merely to imitate, but to inspire you to new productions and new variations in style.
- 150 Zebra2 Presets (.h2p)
- Velocity, Modwheel and XY assignments
- 11 Basic MIDI construction kits (royalty free)
- Compatible with version 2.6 and above
24 Arps - 5 atmosphere - 26 basses - 14 drum sounds - 11 FX - 11 Gated - 20 Leads
22 Pads - 11 Plucks - 5 sequences - 2 wobbles
Special thanks to Alexandra Cornhill & Piet W for providing the fascinating raw oscillator sounds for Zebra2 which are used in this bank. Please check out Alexandra Cornhill's soundcloud page: "https://soundcloud.com/sendy"
As per usual there are free presets available on the soundbanks page on my website
Thank you all for your interest & support!

Aiynzahev,
The audio demo sounds very good. Can you provide a link to the free patches? Or tell me where they are? I can't find them. I went to the Sphere sound-bank page.

It's a little tricky to find. They're linked at the bottom of this page:aaron aardvark wrote:Can you provide a link to the free patches?

They are part of his complete demo pack, direct link here:

@Sami, really nice sounds here, congrats! Did you use any external plugins on the demo track? If so, what compressing/limiting/eq plugs did you use?

Yes sorry I should have just used the box link. On my website its not actually on the sphere page but the general soundbanks page which lists all of the products.bmrzycki wrote:It's a little tricky to find. @bmrzycki yes although not on all parts. The Ambient bit in the middle with the guitar for example was not processed I don't believe.
Generally the processing is mostly on the drums and master bus to make thing sit. With the synths it was mostly some high-passing. I may have used compression here and there.
You can have a look really:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wlb9gxng6kkr1 ... essing.jpg
This is the first song you hear in the demo. The processing is mostly light compression on a couple of parts, pancake and the sonalksis EQ which is usually just a high-pass filter.
I use processing when I want to shape the frequency content just a little to suit my specific mix, and it makes not sense to apply those changes within the preset permanently as each mixing session is always going to require something slightly different.
When I apply processing within the plug-ins it's for character, external processing is utility and it's just because I'm ultra fussy about the final result. I know I don't need to make it sound quite as "proper" but it's part of the fun for me.
But to answer your question: The usual ones I'd use are Sonalksis 517, Portico 5043, NI Varicomp, TDR-feedback comp, BX_Digital V2, Elysia Alpha (master usually) SSL Bus comp (drums) and Flux Syrah (master) finally Pro-L.
It looks like a lot but I found it good to use each one just a little for it's strengths rather than pushing any one thing.
@everyone: Thank you all very much

@Aiynzahev, thanks for the details about your processing and signal flow! I only asked because I was quit impressed with the "finished" quality of the mixes and wondered if you labored over the built-in Z2 FX or reached for other tools.
In no way do I think it diminishes from showcasing the sounds in the set. You're quite good at what you do.
My personal preference is for presets in isolation but I also like hearing mixes to know how the original sound designer had the preset's use in mind.
Either way, top notch stuff and I wish you the best of luck on this bank!

I was very particular with the fx settings, the first thing I do is make sure the patch sounds perfect from the synth and exactly how I'd want it for a real mix.
The flexible architecture of Zebra especially in regard to its effects is ideal for this and the demo sounds the way it does because of Zebras own effects. I made a lot of use of the EQ and delay module in particular. Not to mention zebras vast array of spectral effects.
I also prefer listening to demos with sounds in isolation actually, but I don't prefer making them that way, It's a whole lot more fun in a mix! But I did try to get more isolation parts in this demo.
As for the finished quality, a whole lot has to do with getting the drums right, and you'd be amazed and what a little bit of well placed careful side-chaining can do in a dance mix.

As a fan of Zebra, I purchased this new sound set and it's really well done. Nice sounds, lots of control, good mix of different patch types. Thanks for your effort Aiyn, preparing this sound set. Well worth the investment.
