I continue to have problems with the beta on my machine.
MickGael,

Hi!
I am on Win XP, and this .3 beta fixed my problems :D .

Are you sure that you are setting the path to the directory that "Eve Data" is in, and not to "Eve Data" itself?

When you get the third prompt titled "registry 3" during Eve initialization, does it show the correct path to your "Eve Data" folder? What path do you expect, and what is it displaying?

Bob

I was having those problems, too, but like bobhug says, you have to select the folder that the "EVE Data" folder is in, not the "EVE Data" folder itself. That was kinda tricky!

Post

so do you prefer to open the "EVE Data" when the plugin asks you to locate it?

to me it seems logic to select the directory which contains EVE Data, but if you all think that it's more intutive to select the folder itself I'll change to that,

Well, isn't "EVE Data" what you're trying to find?

Where is EVE Data? It's (click on EVE Data) here.

liqih,

I suspect that your logic is better than many of your users, including me  . Your directions were very clear, once I REALLY read them after having made the mistake of picking the "Eve Data" folder itself initially. I guess I was expecting to pick the "Eve Data" folder itself. Probably others would follow your logic of where the "Eve Data" folder is, though, so you will probably have to really highlight this in the install instructions (maybe on the prompt itself?) no matter....

Hi Guys,
Thanks a bundle - it was the confusion between the "EVE" directory and the "EVE Data" directory.

May want to consider clarifying that in the notes. :)

Also, any idea when the next beta might be ready?

As noted above, the zero default volume is rather inconvenient - primarily because after installing the reg patch the the "EVE_Beta_TapeDirty0.3.dll", I do not seem to be able to load banks when I load the original "eve.dll" (that is, non-beta) that is still in my "EVE" directory.

Personally, I don't imagine I'll be using the degrade too much (a bit too extreme for me at all but the most basic levels) but the limiter is a great idea!

A thought: how difficult would it be (and how much CPU would it chew) if the limiter were to light up when it is being hit? That could be very handy - especially, if you want to hit the limiter hard for coloration.

Eager to see all of what is in-store for the final update

A visual indication of the limiter kicking in would be both useful and C 8) 8) L looking.

Thanks Liqih,

Just in case anyone else has the same problem, the beta wouldnt show up in my Orion Plat 5.5 even though it went through the registry check when it started. It seems that the filename is to be too long in it's original form. Changed name to eve_beta.dll and it appears. Works fine as well as I can tell, when I remember to turn the volume knob up

thanks guys for testing and reporting suggestions and solutions,

I'll try to add a led to show when the Limiter acts,

it will be in the next beta along with a more friendly Master level, <grin>

the Degrade should be good for everyone (?)
as the range wasn't used before,
you had to turn it all up to have some effect,
now you should have the same soft effect as before
in the first two marks, and high distortion in the upper range

about the dir selection, well I don't know,
if most of you expect to pick the "Eve Data" folder itself, I'll change the beahviour of the selection

please let me know, about the mid next week I'll release the next beta, which should be the update candidate

My concern is how this impacts the presets for the soundsets.

On loading several presets, the noise in the delay made the patch useless for me - had to trim it down quite a bit.

I REALLY hope that I do not have to do this for 4 soundsets of prestes. That would be a horrible inconvenience.

Not sure how to resolve that one.....

ok, I can add an extra button to have the advanced Degrade as option, so it's off by deafult

Post

Why have an extra button? Why not make all the way to the left be off completely and have that be the default?

Did I just sound like Rob Reiner in Spinal Tap to anyone else?

I think this is an elegant solution....
