If I'd be fluent in Japanese, I'd actually do that, SODDI.

Why? Japan is very harsh if it comes to critism. Meaning, if someone is being critisized, and it's adjusted critism, chances are you might loose your job. Because you messed up.

Since Yamaha (a once great music company - and the largest "high bidder" at fairs btw) is literally funding Steinberg by now, heads could actually roll. But I don't see that happening unfortunately.

I actually think more that Steinberg is at the point like of it's first "takeover" by Pinnacle, and at the point of it's second takeover by Yamaha. It's about that timeframe again as well. And the best indication for that, is that the company gives a sh*t about their customers and does what they want/think what's best for "us".

Cubase is flawed - more than ever. Ask all those people that were banned from the boards (before it turned "public" again). Ask half of the userbase here on KVR. Then ask the Nuendo users what they think about their current software. The response won't be nice.

As long as nothing changes, they deserve to take every brown matter that is slinged at them. Especially if they stay quiet.

I mean, SODDI reemphasized this again:
C7.06 did not get the treatment it needed. It's a "quick fix", a "quick fix" that took over three months.

Not only do we not know when the next update will be, we also do not know if the adressed issues since 7.0.0(!) are being fixed (the broken ASIO system and huge ASIO load being one major factor!). Neither do we know if we have to actually pay for the fix again, and then 3-4 months later, we have to again pay for the next major version. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

I remember something like this happening with Cubase 4 (sans the paid interim versions). All too well actually. To a certain extend also Cubase SX2 (2.2 was released, about 2 months later, SX3 with the "it's getting hot in here" campaign). Apparently, Steinberg did not learn. So again - brown matter, etc.

I don't think so, Tim.

I just want a working tool for the money I paid for.
Not that much more, but definitely nothing less.

I'm not their constant pay-for-beta tester.

If someone is in the mood doing the math how much I spent for Steinberg tools... I'm with them since 1995, and I think I jumped on WL3 early 2000's.

Tell you what - the next AES con starts tomorrow. Who knows what happens in terms of news. But I don't keep my hopes up anymore.

And neither should you people.

The Japanese have translators. And I would bet that Kobayashi, the guy in charge of Steinberg/Cubase, speaks German.

As for harsh criticism, honestly both you and I have leveled some harsh criticism at Steinberg/Cubase in this forum. I think it's honest and fair criticism and DESERVEDLY harsh.

But it's not getting anywhere here - it's not percolating up, where change needs to be made. So unload on the Yamaha guys, unload on Stelling. If it's harsh, too bad.

If the upper management of Yamaha and Steinberg do not know what is going on, if technical service and the "product reps" are not accurately conveying to management what they find out "in the field", then both upper management and those with customer contact are not doing their jobs.

Let them know. Make the letter sting.

No, I think he was pretty much on the mark. Nice to see some timely and appropriate moderation here.

I will say the boards over there are pretty lame. If you say something with even an ounce of controversy or mention a competing DAW even in passing, the post will be removed. I always hated that.

It's a pity that Compyfox got a bit over-heated. The points me made were very valid and now there's no one really with the same zeal to take up Steinberg on some of these issues.

I have trouble believing that a mod edit + a warning via PM would really have been that hard...

Oh well. Even I feel lazy some days.

Compyfox has been angry about the way Cubase 7 runs on his system for months now.

The "over-heating" can be laid squarely at the feet of Steinberg, who have provided no workable assistance to him or many of the other experienced Cubase users who are having serious problems. The technical and service reps I have encountered this go-round come off careless, callous and arrogant about these problems.

Come on, this "product specialist" basically accused Compyfox of running cracked versions of Cubase a couple months back in this forum. He never apologized publicly either for this libel. THAT should have gotten the product specialist a ban. In a fair world.

Compyfox's responses and anger about this are Compyfox's. He owns them for good or ill. But they did not happen in a vacuum.

you should be aware of the fact that you will be banned very fast if you say something against big companys like steinberg or ik multimedia here. sure they have a very short line to the kvr admin.

Well, you claimed that you will be banned very quickly when you say something against the "big" companies. I described word by word what the guy posted when he was banned, and i think it is completely justified. Pretty good laugh btw, usually the "big" companies, which in fact are not big at all, as there is no big in this business, get a lot of crap on these forums, while companies with a more positive "public image", usually get loads of brown-nosing. Not that i would be surprised though, it's the same thing everywhere you look.

Btw, please quote me the part where i insulted you. Because i said that it's a normal thing to you? Well i'm sorry, but it was my impression, when you say that you get banned for nothing here.

Yeah. If it was only for criticizing Steinberg and their politics, every 2nd post of him would have justified a ban. :P
