Ariajazz and Tom_bgb thanks for feedback!

I have been really impressed with the latest version.

I've had a small issue with 0.9.3.
When I put the MIDI GUITAR 32.dll in my plugin folder, Reaper 4.5.2 does not recognize it. It locates the 64 version but not the 32. So I had to install the 0.9.2 version for the 32 version.

Apart from that, I am having a great time with this plugin. Thanks.
Hm.. I cant imagine anything that changed in 0.9.3 in this respect. Will look carefully through it for 0.9.4.

It's Blue Oyster Cult's Godzilla, Charvel 475 guitar, neck pickup, M-Audio Fast Track Pro interface.

I don't have much info to offer really, other than you should probably play less sloppy than this.
RunBeerRun, sorry haven't had time to look at this in detail yet, but will soon. However just by listening I hear your Charvel is very weak in the highs. Is this really how it sounds? - do you have tone control down or some other kind of low-pass?
RunBeerRun wrote:What's new in 0.9.3 versus 0.9.2? The website doesn't seem to have a backlog?

I got it though, not sure if automatic update checks are necessary, with the update button already on the gui. I loaded it in Reaper, and BAM! update available, well ok but I'm trying to play right now.
Ah yes, forgot to post about 0.9.3. Unless you are using Logic/Garageband, there Isn't much new anyway:

Yup I use neck pickup, tone at zero. Today I tried turning the tone up, the sound did seem more full, I am more used to the tone knob up-creating false notes in audio to midi or audio to synth stuff.

Actually, the issue is with Reaper 4.5.1, I did not check with 4.5.2.
Thank you for looking into it.

in my experience the bridge pickup will work better and you need to have the tone knob up considerably. I assume because the signal will have more high harmonics for midi guitar to detect and discern from other parts of the signal.

0.9.3 standalone is much better now to use with Logic, there's still a bit of latency but its much more playable than before. Using the plugin in logic as a midi controlled effect tracks pretty well too & its almost possible to record midi after enabling V-MIDI, recording midi is possible this way but the midi is all messed up eg. recording multiple unplayed notes & distorted sound. This only happens when using the V-MIDI mode, also when using V-M mode the trial version popup comes up every few seconds.

It's getting much better though & I can live with just using it standalone for now, I'll definitely be purchasing when funds permit. :)

Just got the chance to try v0.9.3 nice improvements to the past couple versions. I can now do 16th note picking again, the tuner is getting spot on and is working real nice in the poly mode. Chord strumming is much better and the sustain is astounding.

Seems the range of the sensitivity has changed a bit so I did have to tweek my user preset. All in all very nice update, will post more after a day of using.

@runbeerrun
Any continuation on this test ? By the way great "sloppy playing". Is there link to the output when all things corrected. Some converters like high end frequencies , some like sonuus g2m do not.

I haven't really done that much testing, I normally use a digital guitar and my real guitar just sits there for testing purposes.

MIDI guitar does seem to track better with the trebly transients, tone knob up, bridge pickup works well. Still needs a good solid whack to get every note to sound, everyone seems to say the same (in their own words).

I've been testing and playing with MG 9.3 lately and doing AB comparisons with v6.1 which I think it is a very stable version. They are different animals in terms of response and playability. 6.1 reacts better with staccato notes while 9.3 has a better response in chords (still needs improvement) in many cases not all the notes of a chord sound and in others some false notes are added (non chord notes) I've notice better tracking with strings strummed than in a finger style (playing all notes of a chord at the same time) generally a note is missing. I conclude that MG has difficulty in trigger two or more notes exactly at the same time.

With all midi or hexa systems there is a common factor and it is that not all and every synth preset reacts equaly. There are some that are absolutely unplayable and others that respond pretty well. This fact has to be highly considered when using MG, among others) (signal level and strength, playing technic, tone and color of the incoming signal...)

Accuracy in MG has not been met yet. A good calibrated Roland system seems to do a better job and not to say about the Axons. MG is a great achivement considering technology applied is completely different from the counterpart systems. Something that I feel very hard (not impossible) to achieve is to have string separation in MG. When this happens we will be talking about a next level of this software. All the considerations stated above I believe are due to that MG employs a single "channel" to track, trigger and make sound all the playing. Tweaking is a must in obtaining good results with this software

After a bit more testing, Yes like ariajazz mentions tweaking MG is a must. But it is getting better the velocity curves are working real nice, would be nice to have more adjustments between default and very soft? Also why are the velocity settings not saved with user presets within MG? Still say very nice update will test some more.

Hello,

I've just joined KVR and I did so because I found out about this thread, which JamOrigins mentioned in a thread over at gearslutz.com (what a name, I are one) Anyway, I'm a guitarist, I own a Roland GR-33, and as of yesterday I also own a YouRock MIDI guitar controller. So like a couple hours ago, I find out about MIDI Guitar and I'm searching out for videos and finding quite a few and every one I watch, it looks like folks are playing just any old guitars, but the voices are definitely not guitars and it appears that they're dealing with zero latency and excellent tracking and suddenly, with growing angst, I'm thinking to myself WHY DID I BUY THAT GuitarHero LOOKING THING? I bought it yesterday, you see, but fortunately I have a 30-day window in which I can return it. So that's a relief.

Needless to say, I'm very interested in MIDI Guitar. It appears to be the answers to so many wishes I've had and some I haven't even thought of yet. But I have a couple of questions also. Hopefully they will have simple answers.

First, I'm assuming that MIDI Guitar can be used as a MIDI controller? Yes?

Second, I went to the Jam Origins website as soon as I found out about this product. I wanted to d/l the beta version, you know, to see if it's gonna work on my system and how well it's gonna work on my system, before I buy a copy.

Well, I discovered that links leading to download the beta version have been brought down. One gives me an "Address not found" error message for jam-o.com and the other gives me a "The requested URL /midi-guitar/vst.html was not found on this server." Which means that the /midi-guitar/ subdirectory has been removed from jamorigin.com Or is there another explanation? Please believe me when I say that I don't have any intentions of letting the cat out of the bag, if this may indeed be the case, but I did get rather anxious when I couldn't download the files I wanted. Sorry.

At any rate, I have determined to my satisfaction that Jam Origins isn't going out of business, but it seems to me that what is happening is you are perhaps getting ready for a major announcement? You're ending beta testing because you're going to announce the release of v1.0?

Just a guess on my part. Or maybe it's something much more mundane like your server being down for maintenance, and I'm just a victim of bad timing? If so, any idea when it'll be back up?

Hrm . . I guess that was more than two questions.

OK, so glad to be here and hope to hear back from you soon.
Best,
Michael

Nothing new besides that v9.3 is seriously crashing SONAR X2, X3 and Windows 7 64. Blue screen appears, never seen in Win 7 before. Another bug found is that when you use MG as plugin and try to insert a synth inside MG the plugins menu sits behind the main GUI of MD making almost impossible to choose the desired synth. There's no way to make the synth menu completely visible. This is happening in SONAR. Have not try in any other host.
