I decided to make a track using just Live9 standard and samples. It's actually pretty cool to just use live for everything, and definitely a different workflow for me, but it's surprisingly intuitive when you use it all together. I did not use any VSTi or AUs at all because I am in the process of selling everything.

Everything in this track is just Ableton live 9 standard and custom samples. I did not mix this with proper speakers so it might sound a bit harsh.

It sounds a bit similar to a few tracks i did before. I probably should re-mix this with my KRK KNS-8400 speakers but I always find i ruin the spatial sound of my mixes on headphones.

Lemme know what you think

Like the overall outcome. The piano and the hihats disturb me though - soundwise.

I'd replace them (just a thought, you know) with a dirty percussive synth (piano) and an aggressive snare (hihats).

Cool wall of sound. I like the early reflections and the pub piano :)

Mix sounds good on headphones, kick drum sounds good, though the kick drum 'roll' is a teensy bit overpowering when it happens.

Awesome thanks for the feedback Sendy! I actually mixed this on a under $150 consumer stereo speaker  because I cant afford a proper set of monitors right now. Im glad it sounds decent on headphones!

I'll see what I can do with the Kick maybe when I re-do this.

Most of the early reflection sounds were from a grain delay sidechain and a reverb. The pub piano is the stock one from live 9s sound library.

I thought about a synth sound but the piano just ended up fitting better for me. The snare could be a bit more aggressive and i was thinking of maybe using a gated 80's style snare for a bigger sound but im not sure how that would affect the overall dynamics.

I'll check it out! Thanks for the listen.

I liked it. The overall impression was quite dark, and it sounded like a V0RT3X piece. I didn't notice the kick "roll" effect until the second listen after I had seen Sendy's comment. Sidechain compression?

Good work :)
