I'm late and new to RC, but how do you control it if not with midi keyboard?themixtape wrote:It is definitely becoming a more stable and versatile program, so thank you.
You aren't by any chance using a MIDI keyboard controller with it are you? I've noticed that some of the weird graphic glitches do happen when inputting live MIDI. It is something we're still working on, but if you just use RC without controlling it via a MIDI keyboard, it's very, very stable (especially version 2.3).
Thanks!
RC still not ready for prime time..

You don't need a midi keyboard at all. Watch the videos... I don't touch any midi keyboard in any of them. It's mainly using phrases, keyboard shortcuts, building midi phrases into an arrangement. It's not used for performance like a DAW (Ableton Live, etc)... it's for writing/coming up with ideas. Not for producing either (again, that's an Ableton strength)... not for mixing/mastering, etc.
A lot of people seem to misunderstand how to use it. But yeah, check out the 5 videos and see if it might be for you.
Thanks!

Will do since I own it.
Will need to get past my preconceived notion that I would be entering and/or modifying midi notes in the program using my keyboard.

Just want to say the title of this thread misrepresents the actually of RC. RC is definitely ready for prime time and has been for some time.
It is a difficult program to immediately grasp but once you learn a method it becomes second nature. I don't think it has been any worse for learning than some other music software I have tried.
The only thing lacking has been instruction; user manual and videos.
Now, themixtape is and has been taking care of that, making RC even more ready for prime time.
As for devs; you won't find another with as much dedication to making this program more useful than ever. And you won't find a dev more devoted to and supportive of his user base.

I concur. Attila is VERY communicative, friendly, and takes his users suggestions VERY seriously (and usually implements requests within days or weeks!).
I use the program (on my days off from work) about 8-10 hours a day, pushing it to its limits... (and working on the new manual in between) testing for crashes, etc. Believe me, a vast majority of the bugs have been worked out with version 2.3. As you can see in all the tutorials I've made... not one crash.

As a matter of fact I was using a midi controller to play improv with a VSTi along with what I was working on in RC, so that perhaps was the cause. Very interesting! Hopefully there will be a November or December sale. That could be pretty tempting.themixtape wrote:You aren't by any chance using a MIDI keyboard controller with it are you? I'm trying out the demo in 32-bits and NI Kontakt5 is always bombing out
It is version 2.21 (demo)
Is the retail version 2.3 yet? or is it 2.21 as well?

I just downloaded the full demo and I can't even get it open. First off it defaults to the DX soundcard in my PC, then after a few tries with reopening it, because it crashed even before I could open it, it just hangs not responding and not opening. The videos are great, like now I'm jonesing to get into it, but it won't open. I'm on Windows 7.

Lehti-- this sounds like a Windows 7 User Account Control/permission thing. There's no reason the program should crash other than the administrator rights thing that Windows does. There are other threads in here that walk you through the process, to see if you can avoid a majority of those "just installed" crashes... it definitely sounds like a user/administrator problem.
MusicDevelopments will chime in sometime soon, I'm sure....

Is the release date of RC 2.3 for mid November still on track? If not, can We access to a beta version?

Thanks for replying themixtape, but I figured out accidently how to stop it, I just hit the Control button on the keyboard and that got me in. Now I don't even have to do that, it opens no problem.

Peppy, did you get this probelm sorted yet?peppy197 wrote:I'm trying out the demo in 32-bits and NI Kontakt5 is always bombing out

What do you mean "bombing out"? I use K5 and have not had problems; however, I typically send midi out to it instead of imbedding the vst into RC.
