Hi, I need to mix some vocals and I'm having a lot of trouble with tune edition
Everytime I try to tune any vocal after the edition the take sounds distorted and some times with noise and clicks. I always used Melodyne and thought that it was some problem with that, so I tried with antares auto tune 7 and the same thing happened. I cant found any solution.
I am using Logic 9 and Melodyne Editor, and Antares Auto Tune 7.
Here is one small take pure, after melodyne and auto tune edition. I need help.
Take with no plugins:

Take with Melodyne:

Take with Auto Tune 7:

unfortunately they are simply pitch shifting artefacts (auto tune's actual pitch shift quality is crap and melodyne's is better but still radius is better than both) Also the settings on the autotune are clearly enabled for too "fast" correction which is giving the unwanted effect.
From what i can hear there, there is nothing faulty as such, it's just the result of the processing unfortunately.

Zplane Veilklang seems to get better reviews than those products youve tried regarding pitch shift quality.
Ive never compared them but I do have Veilklang

I rely on Melodyne, and have done since it's release. I recognise the artifact-ey stuff between the notes at 5 and 9 seconds; Melodyne doesn't handle noise/air too well, so as a regular user I am used to chopping off sibiliances or breathe noises close to a shifted note to prevent them being affected. Having downloaded your vocal and done it myself, I had no sonic problems with the result.
Having said that, I can't recreate the strange 'ghost' voice when shifting the same part here. I'm running at 44.1 - are you running a different sample rate?
Autotune 7, I'd suggest, is not the right tool for this job. I'm not familiar with Veilklang technology, but it sounds like this job is quite possible in Melodyne, just take care of the 'noisey' material.

Yes I am using at 44.1
I found a better take to show this problem, this is a very high take and in this moment of the song the band stops playing and the vocals go all by it self, alone, so... If I have this distortion in the voice everyone is going to hear it. I know that there is the "so tell your vocal to sing perfectly" but I really need to make these pitch softwares to work.
Watch the distortions, its very agressive:
Take pure:

Take with auto tune7:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/480 ... 20tune.wav
Take with melodyne:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/480 ... lodyne.wav
So, I have tried to tune the vocals within Cubase and I got the same problem. In Logic they got distorted too. I dont know why, I dont want to think that Melodyne cant pitch a track without distorting it. I wanna believe that is some problem within my setup, because I just cant have a distorted vocal in this CD.
Said that I want to ask if any one of you guys could pitch the "take pure" for me and if you got no distortions could you upload here so I can hear it? And tell me what DAW and setup you guys used. I want to find a solution for this, I really want.
Thanks
p.s.: Try listening the tracks with a ear phone, its better to hear the distortions I guess.

Maybe a better tool for this sort of pitch correction is to let the audio run slightly faster / slower for a small segment. Can be done with CoolEditPro or Adobe Audition. Guaranteed free of any artefacts!

Sorry, I have posted the wrong links, now they are right.CinningBao wrote:The last two files you uploaded appear to be the same section as the first post. Only the 'take pure' is unique. What do your version of these fixes sound like?
And what key is it in? And are there accidentals in this 'take pure' section? It sure sounds like it!
The key is F Major I guess.
What do you mean by accidentals?
Please check again the links, I want you guys to check the distortion after I tuned the take.
Thanks

I think there is too much vibrato in the singing for anything to work. Maybe get a better singer? If this is opera, why do you even want to run it through a pitch corrector? Melodyne is only good to correct some parts of the song that went astray, not make the whole tune another key. I think anything you try to do that with will give u artifacts.

Use Audacity.
Select an offending portion (careful with zero-crossings)
menu Effect - Change Speed. Apply a few pct up or down until it's better in pitch.
Takes some work, but has the best result without any "distortions" at all!
