What's changed since M5.2.16:
- Improved workflow for audio recording.
- Setup Record Audio & Setup Record Events also in Session menu.
- Track -> Choose Target now uses a more relevantly filtered list, depending on the implicit track type.
- Add Audio Track now also includes the option to connect an audio recorder.
- Audio Recorder Editor now includes explicit drag-drop start point. Easy to drop it on tracks, for example.
- Audio part editor now also indicates where the part ends.
- Improved track header layout.
- Improved mute-solo buttons: They now use the uniform button looks and even better indicate their (dependent) state.
- Easified transport panel.
- New alternative "Lowpass Filter" module. Sounds nicely 'different'

- Improved editing of oscillator super layers.
- Extended drag-drop support: Now you can also drop modules onto module-specific edit displays for example the Record From and Output To displays in an audio recorder.
- When loading MuClips, the resulting sequence part's preset file path was not properly set. Fixed. (relevant for easy re-save)
- Fixed a graphical bug in the 'Mixer Strip' editor.
- Fixed a little internal issue in the MuDrum. (relevant towards future versions)
- Fixed a possible crash bug when loading (MUX) preset files that contain an error.
- Removed redundant test log info that was written to the clipboard on startup.
As before audio recording is still done using the "Audio Recorder" modules.
But as users also want a more traditional track-based approach, now there is special support for that, on top of the existing system.
When a track is connected to an audio recorder, the track will show 3 extra buttons that control the audio recorder.
So now it's easy to control audio recording directly via the tracks.
And if you want to edit more details, the 3rd button opens the audio recorder editor where you can edit the input/output etc.
Note that the input and output displays in the audio recorder editor are also drag-drop aware now, so you can easily drop modules on it to make the connection.
Because audio recording can now easily be controlled via the tracks, the need for the separate "Record Audio" and "Record Events" buttons in the transport panel has gone. These global switches still exist, but they're integrated in the Audio Recording Setup and Event Recording Setup dialogs which still can be popped up via a right-click on the main record button, but now also via the Session menu.
Note that when you have the Audio Recording Setup dialog open (or an individual audio recorder editor) you can also drag-drop it on a track to make the connection. Cfr the explicit drag-drop component at the full left in the audio recorder editor.
Also "Add Audio Track" has been finetuned so to be able to quickly setup audio recording.
I didn't and don't want to rewrite the whole recording system but i hope that these improvements on top of the existing system can make a big difference in workflow. That's why i make this test version available because i need your feedback on this.
How does this track-based audio recording work for you?
Hope you also like the other improvements of course. All feedback welcome.
