When I turn up resonance and sweep the filter with OSC (via Reaper's OSC to VST automation capability) or a MIDI control, I hear very noticeable steppiness.

I've read on this forum that you can use the shift key to increase resolution when changing control values with the mouse but this still doesn't help with MIDI and OSC. In particular, OSC should be much smoother because of its high resolution.

Fabfilter does some kind of inertia plus smoothing in their controls to eliminate steppiness. Wondering if something can be done to reduce artifacting here? Thanks!

Under the settings tab there are 2 settings:

MIDI CC filter lag: Used to smooth MIDI CC's.
Mouse filter lag: Used to smooth knob value changes when you move the knob with the mouse.

Increasing those can help.

We really need to dissuade devs from using this approach - it's OK if you are not a keyboard player or entering stuff using the mouse but if you are trying to make fine changes while playing it leaves you with no hands to play or even audition sounds! The best approach (as used by FabFilter and u-he) is to have fine and course control zones built into their knobs.

Ah, I missed that trick. Thanks, that does help.

I have some ideas to apply the same smoothing to parameter automation.

Let's hope that'll arrive in v3.0
