Sure you can record audio from plugins! That was already possible before :) This new audio recording stuff is only about smoothing the workflow.
OK - I thought I asked that before and was told "no" but I guess sometime in-between then and now it was added - cool

How to do it: Simply connect the output from the plugin to the input of the audio recorder. This can be done in the audio recorder editor (which can be easily accessed via a track now), and/or using the cables in the deep modular editor.

Indeed, to do.

I don't understand what you mean. Please elaborate.
also, looking at the new audio record track with mute/solo/record etc, i can't help but wonder if tracks populated with level meters, sends, panning, mute and solo buttons would be better overall and doing away with racks altogether. there is enough space for all the info and controls to be shown on the tracks. this with the option to use racks if required might be something to consider.
I have been thinking in a similar direction, be it not as drastic to completely remove the racks. It's an interesting thinking way. Anyway it's all still on brainstorming level. Also note that not everyone has plenty of screenspace, so not everyone will benefit from extended track headers. It should be a choice i think.

when i record a second track using audio record it still defaults to playing through the first rack so i have to create a new rack if i want it to play through it. however, i can no longer record on that track because audio record is no longer available, so going back and recording on same track is awkward. i tried creating other audio recorders in mux so that i could have more than i audio recorder going directly to specific racks, but i couldn't get it to do that.

yes, it may be clearer and more logical as an option for those who would like to work that way if screen space isn't a problem.

the mono synth and new filter are great combination btw. really fantastic sounds possible!

Hey plutonia, just for the record, i edited your previous post because there was a little quote-unquote tag issue, so i fixed that.

About the track-rack recording issue, i'll check that. Thx.

So if i understand you well:

You have track 1 connected to audio recorder 1 which is connected to rack 1. You record something, it gets on track 1, and plays fine via audio recorder 1 -> rack 1.

Now you record something new via audio recorder 1, but you want to play it back via another rack, so you create track 2 + rack 2 and put the recording there.

And now you don't see the rec buttons on track 2, which you find a pity because you want to do/play more recordings via rack 2.

Is that correct?

If yes, then the solution is to create audio recorder 2, route it to rack 2, and drop audio recorder 2 on track 2 so they're linked.

The good thing about this is that you can now easily choose via which recorder setup(s) you want to record.

Does this work fine for you?

There is an updated M5.3.3 test version available in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/everest/

The update comes as an app patch, so simply overwrite the existing M5.3.2 app+ID files, cfr the info on http://www.mutools.com/mulab/app-patch/Read%20Me.txt

Also save this text file into your Mulab/App/Data folder, otherwise the preference editor won't show descriptions. Right-click the link + Save As in the mentioned folder.

What's changed since M5.3.2:
  • Tuned the new track header layout when height is small.
  • Improved support for preferences. Preferences can now be edited in a user friendly way from within the app. See MULAB menu -> Edit Preferences.
  • New preference "AudioLevelSolidDisplay". Explained in the preference editor.
  • Fixed a potential crash bug in the UI system. Not sure if the bug could actually occur in any previous versions, but it certainly was a potential danger. Not anymore :)

Yes! Awesome! I really love the solid display! I've been waiting for a way to do that in Mulab for a while. Thanks!!!

Very nice indeed! I saved it in the factory lib as ViMo 3. Ok with you?

By the way i wonder how you compare this vintage sound to sounds from Diva, Monark etc...
The starting point for the patch was Monark. If you look inside it's partly complicated which is my attempt to model a synth which is modeled after a synth ... (i'm still too lazy to repair my Moog Prodigy for a real model)
At least it sounds in the correct direction.
And with the new LP filter i can get the patch where i could not get it with the standard multimode filter.

My settings seem to have disappeared after loading this version? Er, any way to restore those?

Post

I had mine set to mouse wheel scrolls, now it's zooming again. Although it still says mouse wheel scrolls in the settings? Hmmm...

The preferences were moved into the Mulab menu. Copy the .txt file Jo provided and edit it in the "user friendly editor".

Sorry i forgot to mention that this version does not automatically translate the previous settings, so if you had some custom preferences pls re-set them via MULAB menu -> Edit Preferences.

Yes, have got it working now. have set up a template for 8 track mono recording. will email you it and maybe it can be tweaked as useful template for recording. The addition of input buttons on the track in addition to monitor, record. mute and solo might might be a useful addition making it easier to select inputs.
