Hi Urs. I really like you.
And I try to like DIVA.

But this terrible crackling noise is really making me RAGE here! :x
It's absolutely impossible to evaluate the plugin, if I can't even have 5 quiet minutes with it.

Can't you just do it like with Zebra?
Or at least, give us a bit more time.

The demo might be fine to just check out some presets.
But I personally like trying to make some own patches first, and preferably use a few instances of a plugin together. Just to see, how I can actually work with it.
With the current demo solution of DIVA this is not possible at all.

We're working on a really great new demo restriction.

We want to make almost all of our stuff fully operational on fresh instances. That means, as long as you don't open a saved project, there would be no crackling for a whole day. If you never recalled a saved project you could use the demo without any restriction for a year or two, save and load presets... all of that. Well, maybe we need to limit the number of preset recalls as well. But still. Fully functional on any fresh project.

Unfortunately I have to revisit dozens of parts of the codebase to get there and make sure that there are no false positives from our infamous timebombs.

This sounds great. :)
I'm really looking forward to it!
(Hoping it won't take too long.)

Yeah. Maybe we need to put the Nagscreen on any instance then as well. Like, whenever you open the GUI, you'd have to click that friendly grey reminder away. Otherwise people won't realise that they're still running a demo

The main problem I had with the crackling was that it sounds a bit like the computer isn't managing to run the plugin right. When you're trying to diagnose and evaluate a CPU devourer like Diva that can be annoying.

Broadband noise works well, provided it doesn't get too loud and it doesn't appear abruptly. Not only that, but someone making trip-hop might actually like the crackles because they blend in with the bed of crackles they've layed under their beat anyway :hihi:

Exactly! This is an excellent point. It's great to hear that Urs has cool new plans for this.
