Spire is brighter but I still feel its present in the lower end in a more clear way than z3ta but not in a warm way, you're right.
I'm not qualified to compare it to the Virus though.

Feature to feature, Z3ta+2 wins hands down IMO. I know NucleusSL has Virus sound tables for Rapture and would think that adding such a set to Z3ta wouldn't be a concept too foreign to it either. And then there's the 6 to 4 oscillator comparison to take in to account too. Not to mention the price difference of paying more for less in those regards.
Edit: changed spire osc from 2 to 4.

Are you comparing z3ta+ to Spire?BBFG# wrote:And then there's the 6 to 2 oscillator comparison to take in to account too. Not to mention the price difference of paying more for less in those regards.
If so Spire has four Oscillators not two.

Pardon me, 6 to 4 then. That still comes as lacking in comparison.aquar wrote:Are you comparing z3ta+ to Spire?BBFG# wrote:And then there's the 6 to 2 oscillator comparison to take in to account too. Not to mention the price difference of paying more for less in those regards.

I am more interested in discussing sound quality and character than features.

Z3ta unison has only 8 oscillators, only unison spread but no stereo spread (Afaik). Spire has 9 and all of this options, which includes stereo spread, unison depth, manual settings for detuning, some different types of Unison.
IMO for a modern sound with all the needed features, Spire wins and it's easier to use because of the better designed interface.
But...Z3ta is a wavetable synth which allows completely different sounds and manipulating. You can also use user waves which allows stuff like this Virus mods.
Z3ta is more comparable to the NI Massive but to be honest, I prefer Massive over Z3ta (I own both and use both). Spire is a different thing.. IMO goes more to the direction of the Virus synth.

Z3ta+ 2 has unisono?
How could I miss it?

Hehe, it's a bit hidden.. It's the Multi mode for the oscillator. There is a free running and synced mode (free is the best option here). The spread knob does the rest...Tricky-Loops wrote:Z3ta+ 2 has unisono?![]()

Okay, but now you're in the field of subjectivity.djanthonyw wrote:I am more interested in discussing sound quality and character than features.
And for me. Z3ta+2 blows Spire out of the water.
You can add a Spire type or Virus type wave to Z3ta but you can't add a Z3ta/Virus type wave to Spire.
Feature to feature, sound to sound. Z3ta+2 hands down.
When i first got Z3ta, I found it to be obnoxious, but not boring.
Spire, I find boring and the sounds, 'meh'.

Z3ta has this Vintage Saw waves.. which are sounding of course different than Spire. Compared with similar sounds, Z3ta sounds a bit more vintage "dull" while Spire has this typical more "forward" VA sound.

'Dull' or 'Full'? Just wodering if that was a typo? Because Spire is the one I find to be dull.4damind wrote:Z3ta has this Vintage Saw waves.. which are sounding of course different than Spire. What I like about Z3ta+ is (besides the great waveshaping) that it can import user waves for the OSC!
