Hi there.

Having some issues with mSpectralDynamics AU not working in LogicX on OSX 10.9 Mavericks.

There are two different issues I have found.

1) put mSpectralDynamics in the FX section of an audio track. Click to go to presets... select a preset and LogicX CTD's. This problem has happened a few times but is inconsistent at the moment

2) put mSpectralDynamics in the FX section of an audio track. Setup presets. Play file... seems to work OK. Save session and exit. On reload no sound passes through mSpectralDynamics... it appears to be frozen and the Analysis section looks like this:

*edit* not sure if the dropbox image link is working for anyone else - but to describe it is just a wall of green colour.
No amount of disabling, enabling. Deleting and adding the plugin fixes the problem. In fact the only solution is to reboot the computer. Then it works again first session but the problem repeats.

Just thought i'd mention this here in case any others have had the issue... not sure if it is a Mavericks bug, a Logic bug or a Melda bug? ;)

Hi,

weird... as with all Mac OS X updates. I'm still waiting for the copy of Logic X and the new OS, but to be honest, this kind of happens with all the Mac updates, initially quite some set of problems, then Apple fixes it after a few months. I always recommend everyone not to go for the new OS sooner than say 6 months after the release. I don't think we every fixed anything for the new OS, it was always internal stuff in the OS I think. This doesn't mean it is this case of course...

Anyway can you check a different host? That way we can at least figure out if it is OS + plugin or host + plugin. Reaper is tiny and has VST as well (which is way more stable than AU). Also how about other plugins? Any problems like this? Are you using the newest version of the plugins?

Btw. you said the only way is to restart OS. That seems to me like a clear indication it is a problem of the OS, because well designed OS should be able to kill a process without any remaining trace. Can you check Logic isn't running afterwards? I'd suggest reporting it to Apple. Though I know there's no reasonable way to do this, they are so slow...

PS. The image really doesn't open here.

Ok confirmed it is in an issue in Reaper as well.

Here is a link to a screenshot.

Note it says "silence" in the analyser / equaliser but channel 3 (you can see in the bottom corner) is sending signal to the master.

Ok, and how about other MeldaProduction plugins? And how about VST? Did it work in previous Mac OS X?

I was using the StereoProcessor in the same session and it didn't seem to have a problem. I should get a chance to test other plugins more fully on the weekend.

I did try VST and got the same result in Reaper.

And yes I didn't have this problem in OSX 10.8 - I only had the stuttering in Reaper when changing the presets while playing.

Ok, then that's the new OS... I'll check when possible, but quite frankly, I'm pretty sure that's yet another problem of Mac OS X, that will eventually get fixed... I hope... We'll see.
