Is BEATPORT really killing the quality electronic music or the FESTIVALS?

I have stumbled upon this as friends of mine were liking this page, and I thought "oh no not the haters again."

After careful looking and reading carefully what they were saying, I think that they might be right in some ways. The picture is really funny as well.

Back to the subject, if you check the Beatport top 100 you only hear 1 or 2 good electronic music in a sea of repetitive, not well engineered EDM which sound practically all the same.

So if the great electronic music artists who do it for the love of music are not getting good coverage, this is indirectly killing quality electronic music right ?

But I personally think that it's the festivals which are killing the quality music. Years ago when I would attend Creamfields, there would be an array of outstanding electronic djs which played really extraordinary music!

But now, all you hear in the festivals is the Beatport top100 tracks and this is being played to thousands of people! I think this is really hurting the quality.

It's not about liking old music mate, I love quality modern electronic music Some are still making amazing music out there.

I'm talking about how before you went into a record shop and you had to keep your calm and not try to buy all of them because they were very superbly produced, engineered etc ...

Shops displayed the best music out there, and people discovered great records.


Beatport is a brand which initially was supporting great quality electronic music, now every joe and jane can get on there, and the place is filled with amateurish music, and the great records are being buried under the poop.
