Is there a serious competitor to GSI VB3?

I don't have kontakt and hence don't have B4
I'm currently using Organized Trio from which I gather was the predecessor to Vb3
I tried Illadis Euthymia and Taips AZR3 while a worthwhile effort they fall short of the b3 expectations.

Combo Model V and Combo Model F are pretty good free Hammond simulations, too:

Neither one of those are Hammond simulations. "Hammond" is a brand, not a type of organ per se. When people talk about "Hammond Organs" they're generally talking about tonewheel organs, particularly the B3 and similar organs. These organs are often played through a leslie speaker sim. That's what VB3 is mainly a model of.Tricky-Loops wrote:Combo Model V and Combo Model F are pretty good free Hammond simulations, too:

ComboV and ComboF are models of transistor organs (i.e. electric organs): the Vox Continental and Farfisa Compact respectively. These are sometimes called "combo organs." These are known for being bright, and a bit cheesy, and sound a lot different than B3's and similar tonewheel/leslie organs.

Just for some sound perspective
Famous Hammond sounds:
Famous transistor organ sound:
How a transistor organ can sound anything but cheesy (hint: there's no electric guitar in this song
)
Robert Jan Stips (Supersister) is the king of the screeming electric organ

Model C inside Halion 5 and Halion Sonic 2 is pretty good.

You don't have to own a full copy of Kontakt to purchase Vintage Organs.

It is comprehensive and will run in the free player. 32bit and 64bit. Whatever you need.

Exactly. That's why VO sounds so awsum.electro wrote:with samples you don't get phase syncd chords.
BTW: There are plenty of legendary presets included.

fwiw you can get pretty versatile results if you pass any *dry* organ sound into Xils Lx-122 Lezlie sim.

Nevertheless, they sound more like a B3 than the Illadis stuff, IME.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:ComboV and ComboF are models of transistor organs (i.e. electric organs): the Vox Continental and Farfisa Compact respectively. And as the OP has mentioned some free organ VSTi (without samples), I guess that he's looking for a free organ plugin and not for a $400 Original Hammond B3 high quality sample library...

How is that a good thing when real tonewheels are always in phase sync?Aloysius wrote:Exactly. That's why VO sounds so awsum.electro wrote:with samples you don't get phase syncd chords.
