I'm not a Waves fan either but some of their older plugins are great, RComp springs to mind.

Anyway, there are loads of great UK audio companies that are constantly talked about these days besides SSL and Neve. Whether they make or have plug ins modelled after them or not, they are as relevant to computer based musicians as to anyone else in the audio industry.

Focusrite
Novation
Allen & Heath
Funktion One
Drawmer
Tannoy
Turbosound
Kef
Linn
Calrec
B&W
PMC
Rogers
EMI
Harbeth
Mordaunt Short
Opus
Rega
etc
etc

There is a new Slate plugin modelling Focusrite Red, Focusrite's own Scarlett and Midnight plugins and of course the Abbey Road stuff. Sonnox stuff is always in high regard and being talked about. Novation have now released a new version of the bass station and stacks of producers use their controllers and automap software to control their plugins and DAWs.

Anyway, you admit yourself that you're not sure what your point was. Arguing that there is too much Neve and SSL gear inspired plugins out there is not what this thread was meanto be about!

Would have been easier to just say that Abbey Road and Waves piss you off and not to buy into their line of plugins.

People don't get into making stuff to join any sort of battle. This is in your mind. Market forces and healthy competition exist for sure but I really don't think that anybody makes plugins or studio gear solely to outdo another company let alone take into consideration the country they're from.

Rather, they are driven to create tools because they see a gap in the market or because they or the person/company commissioning them need something not already out there. At least, those that end up being considered pioneers approach it this way.

I really don't care whether a product comes from x or y as long as it is made well and does something I like.

Cheers

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored...

You do like to hear yourself talk - as much as I like to hear myself it seems. :hihi:

You list UK companies that do not create mixing consoles only. Which was not part of this whole thing.

And let's be honest... when was the last time you heard ANYTHING worthwhile about Calrec, EMI or Opus?

Not the point of this whole thing - now you are going into a different direction.

Not quite right either.

I don't have anything against Waves or Abbey Road Plugins per se. I have an issue with what Waves pulls with the Abbey Road branding. Two totally different things.

It's all in tha mind!

Again, you're misinterpreting things.
And you ask me where I come up with this.

Here's the Beatles catp pic for you again:

Ok, so you now just decided that this discussion is about mixing consoles. I see.

I'm backing out of this train wreck!

I really don't care about all that history stuff.
But I love this plugin. Just be careful not to overdrive it too much.
The delay is amazing.
The whole plugin makes much more sense to me than, say, Satin.
