Yeah, synth manuals are great. I read lots of them, and can enjoy them in lots of different ways. Often I find it refreshing to hear that "beginner's take" on synthesis because it keeps my view fresh and unjaded. It's easy to become bogged down in the numbers and technical game. Plus, it's cool to spot unusual synth features, like variable sawtooth waves and odd types of oscillator sync.xalama qo wrote:I'll have to download the Sys 100 manual. Thanks for the heads-up that it's good and a humorous read. I'll grab it even if it's just for larfs, and I might try copying some patches to ACE, just as long as they're not oboes and the usual synthetic-acoustic stuff.
But I've def been inspired again to dive into ACE, thanks everyone! Rolandish, good enough for me. The Loomer Aspect update is still a little way off, so ACE can get a large portion of my love in the meantime!
Sendy, where's your blog???!!Autotune... shite, what key is it in? *heads off to KVR to ask for music theory books on hip hop*
When did these non-musos start making music? Who let them in?
'So, what instrument do you play?'
'I'm a DJ dude.'
'Ok, but what do you play?'
'Like, what genre?'
'No, what instrument do you play and compose on?'
'Woah, wait dude, I PRODUCE.'
'Ok, but what do you play?'
'You mean what genre?'
'No'
'Oh, ok, yeah, well vinyl mostly, unless it's a shite club then I just rip the audio from YouTube, no one can hear the difference anyway when I turn all the knobs up'
Sadly, from what I could gather most of the S100's manual comes from the "accoustic synthetic" angle. Kinda amusing/quaint/cute/funny.
The blog is coming! I just need to get around to deciding on how to start it, what site to use, etc... bloody details >:(
